Within hours of putting it in the tank the foggy water cleared up. It's been about a month and still working great. It's kinda big, we have it in a 40 gallon tank. All you hear is the water. Great for the price. Haven't changed the filters yet, haven't needed to but the filters seem pricey.

I've been in the hobby a while. As advertised I think this could struggle to live up to expectations as most aquarium products do. This filter being used on a 55 gallon turtle tank as the sole filter is an exaggeration of its ability. That being said it's always good to double the filter size especially with dirtier pets like turtles.My setup is a 90 gallon fish tank, I've already got a canister filter rated for a 150 gallons. I ran a uv sterilizer in the tank but wanted something to conceal under the tank and add more baskets for media. This does just that. Flow is on the low side for my tank wich is perfect for increasing contact time so the uv sterilizer can clear out parasites and disease. The sterilizer really only needs to run a few hrs a day so running a smaller 1 all day isn't a bad way to go if you have 2 filters.As for the complaint about algae in the hose... that's a given with any setup. The uv light isn't in the hose and bacteria can travel upstream. The important part is minimizing spores in the tank and removing potential disease. If you have algae issues its a water quality thing that requires more maintain. A uv sterilizer can't replace water changes and correct filter setup and other maintenance. 1 way to minimize algea in the hose is buy black hoses and swap them out.I would recommend this as a secondary filter for getting that extra spit shine while increasing the health of the tank. Don't rely on this as the only filter. Especially for dirtier pets like turtles. Could work for a 30 gallon as the only filter. For a 55 I'd run 2 canisters this size. More room for media and more turn over to keep the tank clean without cutting contact time for the sterilizer.My tank is noticeable cleaner and clearer with this. Quiet is a bonus. I may get 1 for my other tank.

ABSOLUTELY TRASH!!!! TERRIBLE INSTRUCTIONS, PARTS AND PIECES MISSING! THEY HAVE A TUTORIAL ON HOW TO PUT TOGETHER AND OPERATE, THEY ARE ALL DIFFERENT AND DONT WORK! WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!! PLEASE DO NOT GIVE YOURSELF THE 2-3 HOUR HEADACHE AND ANGER I JUST EXPERIENCED.

The info from this online said that this will work for up to 100 gallons tank so we ordered this model. When it got here the filter was small and u have to have the fish tank extra full so it die on you. We have our tank in the dining room so I worry that that much water will make our stand buckel. In heinsight tho the filter is working great and our tank is very clear so maybe I’m just worried too much because the filter does work great!!This was a cheap replacement for what we need.!

My filter stopped working literally the day this new one arrived and the best part is that tgis filter is heavy duty and really has my fish/snail tank looking really clean.
