How breakable are these? I have little kids. Will dropping one break it?

I guess it depends on what they drop it on. If it drops on carpet you shouldn't have an issue. They are made pretty well, thick. I no longer have small children so, I don't have that issue any longer. They're very pretty at a great price.

If this is glazed ceramic, how does it absorb water? Or does it only absorb it on the cork side?

This is ceramic without glaze. The porous structure of the ceramic has a strong adsorption effect and can absorb water droplets overflowing from the cup.
