Updated: Bumping this from a 3 to a 5 star due to exceptional customer service which directly addressed my only previous complaints. I wish it was easier to rectify issues like this without having to do the "review > wait and hope for response" dance just to get in contact with sellers, but I guess I did choose to shop here. Original Review: The look and feel of the entire kit is exactly as advertised with a few exceptions with what I believe to be an issue with quality control. The base plate is dense and sturdy, magnets strong and stable enough to hold things in place as expected, flexible arms hold their position well after maneuvering. The only issues I have are: 1) The package I received was missing the bottom mounting piece of one of the alligator clip arms. Essentially making one of the arms useless unless I can figure out another way to mount it to the plate. 2) The included magnifying glass is foggy with visible imperfections. Not the biggest deal, but it does make it hard to use for very long. I'm still on the fence about returning it, so for now I'll just leave this review and hope that others got the full package as expected.

Good: Has lots of extra parts if you lost a bolt etc. Decent strength to hold the boards as shown in the video. Perfect for fixing a gaming controller logic board which is the same size as the photo of this. The base plate is heavy, and the rubber feet are strong so everything is kept in place. Bad: I wish the magnifying glass was 2X the size - sometimes you have to close one eye. The directions are .... well not good. They give you these rubber washers without telling you what they are for. The solder gun holder is kinda small.

Well made, sturdy, with a couple of extra parts and the tools needed to put it together. Can’t believe I've been waiting forty years for one of these.

The assembly is sturdy, expected value for its price, not too heavy but weighs well enough for it to function, and will be useful during operation. It holds a circuit board pretty well, just may feel a bit odd to use at first, but I believe the more I use it the greater its capability will become. The main reason why this is 3 stars is due to the assembly instructions that come with the product being subpar, arguably completely useless and inaccurate. I wouldn’t rely on it completely when building the station.

This was purchased for some tiny solder jobs on electronics. I was impressed at how sturdy and stable the arms are. I don't foresee having any issues with parts moving while working on them. The magnifying glass also works nicely. The weight is substantial, the assembly easy, and overall I have no complaints whatsoever. At $20 this was a great deal to avoid risking soldering burns or parts getting damaged. Everything matches the description exactly except they upgraded me from the tiny 4-slot parts box to the 10-slot one.

This tool is great for hands-free operation when soldering. The station itself is smaller than I anticipated but it's definitely not bad for the price. Assembly is easy and its use is pretty straight forward. One of the threaded extensions came defective and I had to add an extra washer to make it snug but, again, it is an inexpensive took and was an easy fix. The unit itself stands well and doesn't wabble when using it, which is a good thing. Overall it definitely a good starting point for a reasonable price.

I was impressed before even opening the well packaged item as it was so heavy (a good thing)!! I bought the base model and it went together easily and the pieces were of much better quality than expected for the price. There are locknuts for each of the alligator clips so they can be rotated for perfect grip and then locked in that position. The little rubber "gloves" that fit over the claws will come in handy for sensitive items. I used "loc-tite" for each of the screws attaching the feet but was surprised the rubber compression "washers" inside the feet may have made that uneccessary. The instructions are "good enough" but in my haste to assemble I did not notice at first that the soldering iron holder used two nuts and two washers. For very little money, I received a very useful high quality tool.

In Depth Review: No cheap plastics, all parts are metal. The clips are strong (painful to clip onto your finger lol 😂 and left marks for around 15 seconds on my finger without the clip cover). The clip slip on covers are a little thick (could use shrink wrap tubing instead) but thick enough to prevent the sharp clip teeth from scratching your projects. I would say it is 30% stronger than the clips from the multimeters in high school. The solder iron holder is basically a straight coil with little tapering. So depending on your set up you may need to be creative. The threads on the washers and screws are from my opinion - trustworthy. I didn’t really know they included wrenches (mild pleasant surprise) - everything can be put together (safely) by just hand tightening parts. Screwdriver is cheap but not the star of the show, so for me it does not matter. There is actually an extra pair of alligator clips. There are 2 short and 2 long arms (see pics). The arms are flexible and definitely strong enough for pcb work and soldering and just weak enough to bend with the weight of an Olympus TG-7 camera. The whole thing is modular so you can use whatever parts and accessories you want. It’s also nice for storing away when it isn’t in use. The washers are metal so if you want to use rubber I think you could. The feet have a plasticized rubber feel. The base plate is (stainless steel?) and heavy enough to not to be easily knocked around and with the feet, quite stable. Maximum viewing distance on the magnifying glass is around 30cm (6in) it looks a little cheap but the lens is seated in the frame more securely than it looks. The assembly instructions may be a little confusing but it is easy enough to figure out. I’m from Halifax NS (🇨🇦) and currently a 4th year undergraduate student at Dalhousie University. The shipping was on time. I’m quite happy with it and it seems it can become a long lasting companion on my desk and light enough for travel.
