Fun activity
Kids love to dig and this is a fun twist on them. They each have a little card explaining facts about the planet. These are great fun and a good afternoon activity but be prepared for the mess!!

Good but messy
Well packed and arrived quicklyThis is a great set of planets for any young astronomer to smash and cause one hell of a mess lol, make sure you contain the planet in something before the bashing starts as the dust is hard to get rid of.Kept my 11 year old occupied for a good hourhe loved the marbles that come out of the plaster and matching them up to the included cards.Great little set just messy.

Only 7 marbles
My two sons loved doing this activity however, my youngest was sorely disappointed to find his favourite planet Saturn didn't contain the equivalent marble.

Space themed digging activity
This is a fun activity to keep the kids busy when they are bored. There are 8 balls of plaster decorated like plants and a glass marble inside each one as a prize. The plaster can be softened with water by soaking, or just spraying with a water bottle to make it easier to dig out. The wetter the easier. The marbles can be dug out with the plastic tools. It does make a bit of a mess, but it's not a difficult clean up.

An educational toy
The kids haven't done this yet , however the concept is very similar to digging for fossils which many of us did years ago. You have to dig for glass marbles which represent the different planets and then research about each planet. I like the concept of having various activities to do within the one pack which will aid learning.

Child’s digging kit.
This is a set of eight planets that are designed to keep a child occupied for a small amount of time.Soak the painted sphere for fifteen minutes to soften the plaster type substance and use the small tools to reveal the glass marble.Eight cards give brief details about each planet’s environment in English and German on the reverse.Plastic tools include a brush, hammer, chisel and magnifying glass; also a velvety string pouch to store the glass marbles.A bit disappointing that the plaster spheres are uniform sizes and only the planet Earth resembles an actual planet, the glass marbles could have been similar colours to the actual planets shown on the box; and the marbles had sunk to the bottom of the moulding.Although the advert states ‘National Geographic’ there isn’t any mention on the box so I would doubt that claim and ‘Gems’ where it should say ‘glass balls’.

Interactive learning
I love getting educational, fun sets that enable my little one to stay engaged and get a more hands-on learning experience. This set was such fun to enjoy with my daughter.

Just feel it's lacking something
This is a fun kit for kids. It comes sealed in a giftable box. There are 8 "planets" measuring 5cm across and after soaking for 15minutes in water, the provided tools are used to excavate them. Inside each is a marble (various sizes). There is a card with info on each planet enclosed and also a small drawstring bag to keep the marbles in. The kids enjoyed it but I just felt it was missing something.
