The mat is beautiful! Covers a good area. It comes compressed and has deep folds. Many people complained the mat would not flatten after sitting out for several days. I took a steam iron and used an old thick towel as a pressing cloth to flatten it out. If you decide to try this do NOT let direct heat touch the fabric, try steaming at your own risk! It rolls up easily and fits well in the carrying bag. Not only good for play Mahjong, but a nice mat for all sorts of other games.

The mat itself is pretty good, and the bag it came with is a good touch. The only downside is: the words 東南西北 are written in the order of a compass (in clockwise direction) whereas when playing mahjong, it should be in an opposite order (in counterclockwise direction).

The design is absolutely beautiful & the materials are very high quality. It's great for tile games, card games, dice & just about any other use that's not a typical dinner table cloth. Cleanup of spilled drinks may be tricky, but is still possible with a pit of patience, a spray bottle & soapy water. However, there are only two minor flaws. The first flaw is that the cloth ships in in a flat plastic bag, folded flat; owing to the material, it's very difficult to smooth out the folds of the cloth, even with a laundry iron. The best solution is to roll up the cloth into the carrying bag that ships with the product & keep it stored for a while. The next flaw is in the table cloth's design; the Chinese characters for the compass directions literally match the markings on an actual compass, rather than matching the typical seating arrangement for a Mah Jong game. For me, however, it doesn't detract from the quality or the beauty of the design.

Fabulous pad

I love the way this mat looks with butterscotch bakelite tiles. It makes a magnificent tablescape with yellow bakelite racks.
