Mother-In-Law's Kimchi Chili Pepper Flakes, 3.25 Ounce

This is great red pepper for making Korean dishes as well as spicy Thai soups. The consistency of the flakes is smaller than the ones we usually get with big brand spice companies, and as such the flavor seems smoother and definitely the texture is so much preferable. This smaller flake also works better in soups and stews than the bigger flakes in other bottles. I just wish the price were a little lower, but we like supporting small companies and as such are ok with paying a premium for a product made in the USA and with top quality ingredients. Highly recommend.

So on its own, just tasting it out of the jar, it's like, "Meh, same chili powder we already bought from the Korean store, just a darker red." Not ready to retire this one yet, since I was already making bulgogi, Korean vegetable pancakes, and had some cucumbers to use up, saw there was a kimchee recipe on the side. I've already made kimchee using the other chili powder, so expectations were low. WOW! Amazing! I was surprised at how the heat kicked up a notch with all the other ingredients, and the flavor. This is much better than our other chili powder, and has depth. I'll definitely buy it again- it's super good!

I use this on EVERYTHING, chicken, cucumbers, potatoes, steak.... It has a bold, rich flavor profile that just can't be beat!

Korean BBQ and other Korean dishes have a really specific flavor profile... you're supposed to get all the depth of roasted pepper flavors without an excessive amount of "heat" or spiciness that in my opinion really ruins the actual flavor of what you're cooking. It's the way the peppers or spice is processed. This is about as authentic as it gets, and the flavor doesn't disappoint

I could not find this product anywhere! Then Amazon came along and I was soo happy!!! This spice gave my Korean spicy chicken the kick it needed. Pretty good size , I would purchase again!

Not spicy, very mild, you have to use twice as much, so the entire jar basically to get the heat level I am used to. Medium ground, not fine, so keep in mind for your preparations.
