Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky - Perfect in an Old Fashioned - Vanilla, Caramel and Bright Cherry Notes - 70cl (Package May Vary)

I did a lot of research online before buying this, it was a gift for a friend who I knew drank Bourbon, but not much else about his tastes. I did lots of research and the market was very confusing with so many options. This came out in my opinion as the best option when it came to value for money -v- quality without spending the earth. It also seemed to have the best wide ranging qualities to please a bigger range of palates. In the end it came and I was very impressed with the look of the bottle with drippy wax seal at the lid which gave it a unique and unusual quality compared to its competitors, it felt like a nice gift. The recipient was thrilled with it and commented that this was a brand they would buy too when they wanted to treat themselves so it was a hit all round.

I have finally found a nice bourbon I can drink without any mixer! This is my favourite now and I have certianly tried a few, Jack/Bulleit/Jim bean/woodford reserve/Buffalo/gentleman Jack/wild turkey/knobs creek I have even had the Makers Mark special 46 and the original is still my favourite. I used to mix coke with my whisky but over the last few years I have gotten used to the taste on its own and finding a nice bourbon to do that with is great as now a bottle can last me longer rather than drinking it like pop with coke ect...... The bottle has a nice look to it but I'm not a fan of it being a screw top rather than a cork (might just be me lol) The taste is very smooth and a very easy drink to have. Amazon always have this on a good price around £25, best I have seen the price is £23 so keep eye out for the offers, beats going to Tesco or Asda.

A really smooth tasting bourbon, I drink it just with ice. I used to think I marginally prefer Woodforde Reserve but there is really nothing in it, so there is a lot of value in picking up Maker’s at a cheaper price. Will be back for more!

I was reccomended this from a friend in the states. Honestly was surprised to enjoy a bourbon. As someone who prefers Scotch, this was a delight. It was easy enough to drink neat if that's your thing, but mixes very well with ginger ale or with coke, or like I had, with cherry coke. The bottle is pleasant to look at, the wax dipped neck of the bottle feels super nice and I enjoy the bottle enough to where I kept it. I will happily purchase again whenever I go into ym bourbon stage. Highly recommend with either some ice, or coke.

I’d been using Blanton’s for my Old Fashioned but read an article that suggested Makers Mark was a good alternative and it is absolutely true. One third the price of Blanton’s but perfect for an Old Fashioned. Try 50cl Makers Mark, 4 dashes Angostura bitters, 3/4 teaspoons demerara sugar syrup. Stir with ice then strain and pour over large ice block in whiskey glass. Add twist of orange zest.
