Works great
The Emerson fan I bought only came with one remote - a handheld design. I purchased the SW605 as a second controller to mount on another wall. Remote wiring was already there, so installing this unit was a snap. Very satisfied with the six speed Emerson fan. Lowest speed is a gentle breeze for sleeping and max speed is a category five hurricane - great for cooling down after a workout. Super silent operation too. You only hear the wind.

Used to retrofit an Emerson CF4800 ceiling fan
I used this SW605, along with an RCK55, to replace the failed switch and receiver in our Emerson CF4800 ceiling fan. A caution: this could be a difficult retrofit for many people. I had to remove the ceiling fan and then trace out and re-route/re-wire the fan up to the ceiling box in order to get make sure all the connections would match the newer RCK55 interface wires. But, with that done, the SW605/RCK55 combination is working great with our fan. I now have full control of our up and down lights (including dimming), and the fan speeds (including reversing direction) all from the wall switch.

Keeps failing
These seem to last only about two years. They fail, and the fan starts misbehaving, with the lights turning themselves on and off randomly for hours on end. It's a shame because the Emerson eco series fans are the best fans we've ever owned. But having to replace a $50 control every two years is just ridiculous.

Small, light buttons can be confusing
It's a little small, but the bulk of the device fits a 1-gang box. Simple to wire and does a good job to remotely control my office's ceiling fan/light.The first confusion was the light buttons. There are two at the top. When I bought this device, I thought that it would be used for the light dimming feature - press the top button to increase lighting, press and hold bottom button to dim, etc. Nope. I haven't seen it, but I guess Emerson sells fans with two lights, and that's what this controls. I have one of those type of fans in my master bedroom, but it's not an Emerson. It has a 'top' light and a 'bottom' light. Yup, that's what those buttons are for. Since I only have one light on my Emerson fan, the bottom light button controls it. Press once to turn it on, press once to turn off. Press and hold to control the dimming, assuming your fan has that feature.I felt it's a little pricey, but I didn't want a hand-held remote tacked onto my wall, so I wanted something that would use an existing switch box, which this does.It comes with several face plates: White, off-white and almond. It may come with one other, I don't recall. I've used this device for a month and a half and have no issues with it.The buttons/controls seem small, but beyond that, it does what it's supposed to do and I like it.

Works great
It seems the origional switch I had failed, this replacement works great.

Very satisfied.
When we bought our house, the bedrooms had ceiling fan switches - the kind with two sliders. They all had broken handles (they get terrible reviews for this). Went for this one instead, and we like it a lot. Its a bit complicated, and not intuitive, but much better than the other kind. The light buttons are misleading (not two for dimming one light, but two for two lights if equipped). Otherwise, it works very well. Its really nice to be able to reverse direction on the fly.

This is same as Emerson after rebrand under kathy ireland.
We were skeptical that kathy ireland branded electronics would work with our Emerson fan but we spoke with the shop owner where we bought the fan a couple of years ago and he assured us that it's the right part. Emerson sold to kathy ireland and, for better or worse, the new name is here to stay. If you're needing an SW650 for your fan, this is the part you want.

NOT for LED light bulbs
I bought and installed this controller a year ago. All functionality works fine. One of the incandescent bulbs failed recently and I replaced both with dimmable LEDs. The LED bulbs act like they were installed in an incandescent-only setup: they flicker when dimming and do not reach full watts when I set the dimmer to high. Clearly, this switch is NOT for LEDs, regardless of what they claim.

Works well, but poor user interface
It controls the fan/light. That's what it's supposed to do. That's good. But if you walk into a room and want to turn on the light, finding the right button is a pain in the dark. Yes, there's the master power switch, but that cuts the fan, too.It would be nice for the fan reverse switch to be less prominent and replaced with the light on/off switch.

Not as Described
Was described as "new". When I opened the box , it had obviously been used and was missing the screws.
