I am rediscovering my sketching skills, and along my discovery journey, I started using different colors for my sketches instead of typical graphite or black ink. Who says that a Bosc pear or a cafe scene needs to be rendered in black ink? I like using the various colors of this Sharpie set and randomly choose the ink color for each day's sketch. That pear might be green, black, or it might be marine blue, deep purple, etc. It's fun! I chose this Sharpie set because I had been using their basic black ink pens for sketching for some time (and still do). The various colored ink flows smoothly on nearly any paper surface I've used so far. The ink doesn't smear or bleed on the paper. I like using a variety of colors for sketching, and also for highlighting key points I want to remember in my journals. Just a pop of color (even subtle colors) can make it so much easier to find that word, phrase, appointment time/date you noted in your journal, appointment book, or however you (still) hand write important information. Sharpie S-Gel pens are comfortable to grip, and the ink flow is smooth, not dragging. That point may be important to people who have struggled with repetitive injuries to their hand(s). I only wish that there were a few more colors in this S-gel color line. But this is a fairly new generation of their S-gels and perhaps Sharpie will be adding more and brighter colors sometime.

I actually didn't realize I was buying the colored ink pens in this version (thought I got them in black but I had it backwards!) but the colors are really cool so I'm happy with them! The red is darker red than the typical bright red, there's a dark green that I really like too. It's a bit hard to tell which color you're using sometimes especially in low lighting (that goes for both the ink on the paper AND the stripe on the pen itself) but I don't mind that personally. Most importantly I really like how these write. I'm not a "pen person" so I don't know how to describe why lol but I use these all day and so far they're the most comfortable pen I've found so far. I use these around the house and the black ink version in the office. Some of them feel like they lose ink quickly but maybe I'm favoring them more than I realize or my coworkers are using them a lot lol!
