I've had high cholesterol for a while. In December, my numbers were: Total: 230 (should be between 125 - 200); LDL: 159 (should be under 130); HDL: 42 (should be 46 or greater). Doc wanted to start me on a statin. I refused (too many uncles lost ability to walk while on statins). So I tried these two supplements: Cardioviva is a probiotic that works on cholesterol, and policosanol (this product specifically) is extracted from the waxy part of all-natural sugar cane and promotes healthy lipid levels. I just had my blood work done again, and am I pleased with the results! New numbers: Total: 196; LDL: 121; HDL: 46. My HDL hasn't been over 42 in a decade (I know! BAD!). I would absolutely recommend this product.

My husband reacted to statin drugs (inflammation of the muscles--doctor thought he was having a heart attack). His doctor said to NEVER take statins again. So, I urged my husband to take policosanol. I lowered my triglycerides from the top of the red zone to the bottom of the green zone in 3 months or less. I only took one a day. My doctor was amazed. but didn't like that it was cheap and safe . My older friends I work with were dying from the side effects of statins. which when I took them I was so dizzy I couldn't walk straight. they will save your life if the lower amount is really as important as they say. modern drug companies at best take the chemicals of homeopathic drugs but the studies say often they are way expensive and don't in trials even close to the $4 per month of a lot of the pills like this. Statins side effects are the same as old age, arthritis , cancer, diabetes. and brain loss of cognition.

I have been using Policosanol for lowering my cholesterol ever since I had bad muscle issues in my arms after using Lipitor. This is a natural product with no side effects and i haven't had an issue with my cholesterol being too high since I started using Policosanol. I used to get it locally at a health food store but they were out so I saw this at an even better price than my local store and it has the same ingredients. Beats using pharmaceuticals.

I have bought vitamins from Swanson for years now. They are reputable and quick to send their products. I have taken poliocosanol with red yeast rice and my doctor was quite impressed that my cholesterol was so much lower than blood work months earlier.

The jury is still out on this product, using it to raise up my good cholesterol. Used safflower for a while, it stopped working. Will update after I see my doctor in June.
