Just what I was looking for.

The shroud is plastic and breaks off inside usb socket.
I used it for a sneaker-net between three computers at work. It was compact and fast. I bought several as I liked it so much. It worked well until part of the shroud broke off inside the usb socket in the computer after which I had to fish it out with a bent paperclip. I'm not sure it wouldn't break even if you're just leaving it in for extra storage.
