Great unit, super fast and intuitive!
My first time cutting the cord...finally. Wasn't sure which way to go but am very happy with this. After a very short learning curve, it is so easy to navigate and the viewing/recording options seem just endless. What took me so long?

Nice upgrade from a Chromecast
I just setup my new Google Streamer , simply because my Samsung TV os sucks . The actual streamer has a smaller footprint than I expected which is actually a plus . You will need a hdmi cable as this doesn’t come with it . And setup is no harder than any streamer . Would recommend getting it setup through the Google home app as it saves a lot of time . The setup pretty much takes about 15 minutes from setup to updates completing . If you are familiar with Google tv OS then it’s pretty easy to navigate. The remote is longer and has some texture , feels nicer than then the previous remote . Biggest difference on remote from previous 4k Google chromecast is a longer remote , the volume buttons are on the front instead of the side , and it has a program button that allows you to shortcut a fave app, or Google home button to control smart devices . Or just to swap inputs . It has Dolby Atmos ,Dolby vision so if you have that setup it sounds great . I have Google home controlling my Phillips hue lights and nest thermostat . It’s nice to be able to do that right from the Home Screen .It is much snappier & quicker response than previous chronecast 4k with remote . Zipping through menus, selecting apps and programs is much quicker than my Samsung tv os sucks. Thread border router functionality makes communication with my smart devices simple . WiFi speeds are decent & it does have an Ethernet port for even more stable connection The streamer has 32gb of onboard storage which is more than enough for me . It also has a remote finder button on back of device to help you locate that missing remote .Picture quality is excellent as well . Setting up apps is quick as far as sign in as well. Is it better than Apple TV 4K or nvidia streamer ? No but it also is $30-$50 less. Overall initial impressions are it’s great , and over time I expect it has more functionality with updates etc . It does have some AI functionality in generating screensavers , but as of now that’s more a cool thing to try at 1st , then you will probably get over it .

A good choice vs apple tv
Is an excellent product that fully lives up to expectations. Its greatest strength lies in how intuitive it is to use, making it accessible for people of all ages.It not only revitalizes your television by transforming it into a Smart TV, but its setup and operation are incredibly simple. In a matter of minutes, you'll be enjoying your favorite content from your phone, tablet, or computer directly on the big screen. If you're looking for an affordable and hassle-free way to enhance your home entertainment experience, the Chromecast is a fantastic choice.

Google's latest streaming device is solid and recommended--but with a few minor shortfalls
This is Google's latest streaming device, evolved from its original HDMI dongle into a fully realized set-top item, If you're already enmeshed within the larger Google home ecosystem like I am, there aren't many surprises. It's a beefy little box that handles 4k content reasonably well. I do appreciate a couple of new touches, my favorite being able to use a button on the streaming box or a command within the Google home mobile app to trigger an audible find-me signal from the remote. I've used it a few times already. The remote is also a pretty flawless voice input mic that I've had no problems with. I will note that the remote itself feels light and a but fragile, but this is not a deviation from earlier version of G streaming remotes. Before I had this device, I had been using the Google TV app that was preinstalled with my brand new LG OLED smart TV. I was a little surprised to find that this streaming device is consistently more laggy than my TV's native Google app. But the lag is measured in 2-3 seconds, so nothing worth complaining about. Finally, I was a bit disappointed to see that this device doesn't include an HDMI cable to connect it to the TV. With earlier dongle versions, the HDMI connector was literally part of the device. Now, in set-top form, Google assumes you will have a spare HDMI to use (and they were correct; I did have a spare). To sum up, this is a great little streamer that delivers the expected Google TV experience along with a couple of new features but also a couple of small misses. As the cheapest item competing in this space, it more than keeps its promises, and I have no trouble recommending it to other Google ecosystem consumers.

Unlock Your Older tv's Full Potential with a Google TV Streamer Upgrade
While our Sony A80J 77" OLED is a stellar 2021 model, its built-in Google TV version 10 is likely holding back its true capabilities. Upgrading to a newer Google TV streamer with Version 14 delivers a significant leap in both picture and audio quality. You'll notice the difference immediately: colors will pop with more vibrancy, shadows will reveal greater detail, and sound will become more immersive. Beyond the sensory enhancements, the newer streamer offers a far more responsive experience. App navigation is snappier, and the improved remote makes interacting with your entertainment seamless. For around $100, it's an incredibly cost-effective way to revitalize your viewing experience. It's like getting a brand-new TV without replacing your current one!
