Better than the leading video doorbell
I bought this doorbell to replace a well known doorbell which kept dropping out from my WiFi which has an excellent signal, even though the doorbell was only 4 meters from my router.Their customer service response was to buy a WiFi booster, which is not very helpful and costly, even though I have to pay nearly £50 a year to get the activated video.I chose this video doorbell as it had good reviews and takes an SD card to record various actions and, best of all, an excellent price and no annual fee.I can’t be more pleased with my purchase. The original doorbell took a number of seconds before it warned me of any movement etc. This is nearly instantaneous and the quality is excellent. You can programme it individually for Motion, Animals, Vehicles and People, and change sensitivity and distance easily. When the bell is operated it gives alerts my phone immediately, allows me to see who it is, and converse with them if I need to.It is relatively easy to set up and connect to Alexa. All in all an excellent quality product.

Great video doorbell
I didn't think this would work as the distance from my nearest Deco node was quite far but surprisingly it did. The signal it receives isn't great but it still functions as normal. I can talk to whoever presses the bell and record motion using an sd card. Battery life is pretty good too, having only had to charge it once but I suppose that depend on how many times motion is triggered which is pretty much a lot as unfortunately it does pick up some surrounding bushes outside of my gate. It does differentiate between people and cars which is great, notifications are sent immediately so you know when someone or something is at your property. Depending on the signal there has been a little bit of video lag but overall it has worked fine and a great addition of extra security. It also comes with an indoor chime, easy to pair with the doorbell and works a treat, great to have the added sound alert.

Works well but some features drain the battery quickly
The video quality is very good and can be switched between 360p and 2K HD. There's an option to have full colour night vision which is a handy feature. The recording feature was easy to use but drains a lot of the battery (had this around 6 weeks and battery is already at 60%).It's also very sensitive and I kept getting notifications for "motion" when it was actually just a nearby tree branch blowing in the wind. This also drains a lot of battery but the sensitivity can be changed and mine is now at 1 whilst still detecting people and vechiles. It's AI detection feature is mostly accurate however sometimes it detects cars and vans as 'people motion', but again you can correct the event type in the app and this helps train the AI on future detection events. It is easy to set up with a setup guide within the app. I already have another Tapo camera in the app so it was easy to connect to wifi.I mounted this with my own adhesive stickers as the ones provided were not secure or strong enough, and even became non-sticky once removed from the wrapper. It is probably best attached with nails but if you have to attach it to a plastic door frame or brick like me, you'll need to buy seperate strong adhesive stickers.Overall this is a good all-round, first doorbell camera that has worked well for me. I bought this when on offer and it was £5 cheaper than another Tapo doorbell that looks similar but is actually the exact same just a different name (basically it is the same product but one is for the EU market and the other US market). It also comes with a doorbell chime that you plug-in which the ring volume and sound can be adjusted from the app.Tapo also has a range of features like Smart actions and community help forum.

Very solid
I'm happy with this so far, had it in a few days now. It was easy to install and set up, with varied mounting options. The app is decent, and the video and sound are good, with very little lag. Battery life is hugely affected by use. On a normal day, even if triggered quite a few times, the battery drops by at most 1%, but on the first day when I was constantly checking it, formatting sd cards etc, and if you watch it for any length of time, it dropped by 10% in one day. Once the novelty wears off it does seem like the battery will last well though. You can heavily customise the detection zones and the types of activity that trigger it (separate detection zones can be set for general movement, people, cars, and pets, with separate sensitivity settings for each). Takes a bit of customising, I've occasionally had it be sensitive to a car driving past in the distance but slow to register someone walking right up to the door and ringing the bell, but generally it seems to work well if you have decent wi-fi.Be aware that although it claims to support sd cards up to 512gb, this seems to be only certain makes, the one I had initially wasn't compatible, but I've had no problems with a 256gb card. The night vision IR mode is very clear. You get a free trail of their cloud storage, without needing to give credit card details etc., and even the paid subscription is only £30 a year, but I think just using an SD card is probably just as good. The doorbell itself is a little bulky, but not a big deal. For £40 I think this is excellent value, especially compared to some competitors, and I feel a bit safer still going with a big brand rather than some of the unbranded ones which I wouldn't be so comfortable connecting to my wi-fi. At some point I might consider upgrading to their wired version to not have to worry about keeping it charged.
