YOU NEED THIS PUMP NOWWWW!!!
I bought one haakaa pump before I had my son in August because of all the great reviews. I didn’t actually start using it until he was almost 6 weeks old, I really wished I had started using it the day I started nursing. Whether you’re full time breast feeding, bottle feeding, split feeding, this is the best thing you could ever have. I collected so much milk that would have gone to waist because I was producing way more than my newborn would eat. My let down flow would absolutely just drown him, so I’d just put the haakaa on the breast he’s going to eat from for a minute or so, then he’s good to eat without choking. I eventually transitioned to strictly bottles because it was easier for us. I used the Medela Spectra, the manual breast pumps by Medela and Lansinoe, but this one works the best. I ended up buying another to strictly pump using only the haakaas. The way it pulls all the milk out with a continuous suction, I get more milk using these than anything I’ve ever used. I get a full 10 ounces with a 30 minute pump session using these breast pumps when I’d only get max 8 using my electric 200 dollar breast pumps. Not only does it work better, it’s just a million times more convenient. Bringing spare cups and bottles is a lot easier than making sure you can connect to power. I use the haakaa cups almost every time I go out. If I need to pump, a quick 15-30 minute pump is all I need to get going again. They’re easy to wash, my husband hated washing my electric pump, but never complains when asked to wash these lol. There’s only a tad bit of cons that don’t nearly outweigh the pros. A con would be they don’t have a strap to save the milk from falling in your lap and spilling once the suction runs out. This is most definitely the worst thing, I’ve lost so many ounces from clumsily trying to multitask. Now I sit mostly still and keep an eye on the suction so I can adjust and pour when needed. The other con which I wouldn’t really say is a con, is you have to replace them more often. With an electrical you’d have to replace all millions of pump pieces every three months or less depending on usage. These pumps, you have to replace them once the silicone becomes cloudy. This takes a while to happen, but it will eventually in about 2-3 months. Judging how easily these are to clean, using a soft sponge will make your pumps last a lot longer, but either way being hundreds of dollars less than an electrical pump, this is definitely where to invest. I also bought the lady bug collection cups in hopes of losing less milk when I’m too busy to pump. If my breasts are leaking, I can just pop those on really quickly, they fit the best in a nursing or sports bra. I’m obsessed with saving every drop for my baby, haakaa really really knows how to help with that. Just please please please make safety lanyards for your collection cups so less milk gets waisted for clumsy moms 🥹 Thank you!!!!

Catch the letdown with this pump
I bought the Haakaa Manual Breast Pump to use as a secondary pump and for catching letdown during feedings, and it has quickly become one of my most-used breastfeeding tools. First off — it’s so simple to use. No cords, no batteries, no setup. Just suction it on and let it do its thing. The silicone feels soft against my breast, which means it’s comfortable even when I’m sensitive. I’m honestly amazed at how much milk this little pump captures while I’m nursing on the other side! It’s also great for relieving engorgement without the hassle of a power pump. The size is perfect — the 4oz capacity is enough for what I need most days, and the clear design makes it easy to see how much you’ve collected. Cleanup is a breeze too — one quick rinse and a wash and it’s ready for the next use. I also feel good knowing it’s made from high-quality silicone, which seems durable and safe. If you’re breastfeeding — whether you need a simple pump for occasional use, want to save extra milk, or are looking for relief without electrical pumps — this Haakaa pump is a game-changer. Highly recommend!

Catch milk drops
As a first-time mom, I’ve found this manual breast pump to be an excellent tool. It’s not like a regular pump—instead, it’s designed to catch milk drops and letdown, especially when your breast is full. It’s simple, effective, and very helpful during breastfeeding.

4 time mom must-have
I just purchased this again to replace the haakaa I lost during our move! With baby #4 arriving in days, this is one of my must-have items for the first few months of breastfeeding. If you have a robust flow, you can simply put the haakaa on your breast for a couple of seconds while you let-down. This will prevent your little one from choking, and, will save the milk from waste! In a pinch, you can even use this as a hand pump, although, be careful if you have a rapid flow or oversupply as it might pop off your breast when it begins to fill up. The haakaa is easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to take on the go! If you plan to breastfeed or pump, be sure to snag one of these!

My Experience and Advice
This pump is a well-designed and useful tool, but its effectiveness depends heavily on individual anatomy, nursing setup, and expectations for milk output. I am a Triple D cup with an above-average milk supply, and while I appreciate the simplicity and build quality of this pump, I found it difficult to use during active nursing. Due to my breast size, there was limited space between my body and my baby, which made it challenging to position the pump securely and maintain a proper seal while feeding. This is something larger-chested parents may want to consider when deciding if this pump fits their routine. In terms of milk collection, I typically express 7–8 oz per session using a Spectra electric pump. With this silicone pump, I consistently collected around 2–3 oz. I want to emphasize that this difference is not a defect of the product, but rather a reflection of how it functions. Unlike electric pumps that use both suction and stimulation cycles, this pump relies solely on sustained suction and is primarily intended to capture letdown or provide gentle expression rather than replace a full pumping session. One important detail that isn’t always mentioned is that as milk accumulates inside the pump, suction strength naturally decreases. This limits the total volume that can be collected in one session and makes it best suited for short-term use, such as catching letdown on the opposite breast while nursing, or for relieving light engorgement without setting up an electric pump. Overall, this pump is thoughtfully designed, easy to clean, and convenient for low-effort milk collection. It may work exceptionally well for parents with smaller breasts, more space during nursing, or those looking to passively collect extra milk throughout the day. However, parents with larger breasts or those accustomed to higher output from electric pumps should view this as a supplemental tool rather than a primary pumping solution.

A MUST have for every mom!!! A handy little tool to give as a gift for a friend or to yourself.
Baby #3. I used electric and manual pumps for both other kids. I’ve tried (and still have) Medela, Nuk, and Willow electric pumps with traditional and hands free attachments. I’ve also used Lansinoh and Medela manual pumps. All do what they claim to do but none are ideal for a working mom (which I am). With my last baby, in particular, I was horribly bothered by how loud ALL of the pumps are (even the manual pumps) because when I’m pumping, it’s because I’m working (i.e., not with baby); not only is the incredibly loud sound of the pump distracting for me, but it makes others uncomfortable and I refuse to pump in a bathroom; it just seems disempowering to do so. With baby #2, I went to a manual pump so I would have more flexibility and discretion and while I loved these attributes of the manual pump, I found that even they make noise and my hand would get sore having to pump so much ... also, again, I’m pumping because I’m working and, maybe I’m uncoordinated, but I found it hard to pump with one hand and work (write or type) with the other OR to have a conversation with someone while also focusing on pumping (insert awkward suction sounds during conversations which were sometimes rhythmic and sometimes not, LOL). All of these distractions led to me missing or minimizing my work pumping sessions and, ultimately, frustration for me and baby when my supply diminished. I am SO EXCITED to have found this product and I cannot begin to understand why all those apps that promote products for mom and baby don’t include it. This is a MUST HAVE for all mamas and should be in EVERY mama basket at baby showers (it’s ok to have multiple, trust me!!!). I got the 4oz haaka without the stopper because I was leaking all over myself, especially at night. I figured if I could catch at least one oz per session, I’d have 8oz per day but I couldn’t find those milk catching shields I’ve heard about/seen online anywhere locally. When I started looking for them on Amazon, I came across this little gem and thought it looked interesting ... for $12, it cost less than the shields, could catch more, and looked like an alternative to my preferred manual pump. It turned out to be all that and more! Not only did I easily catch the extra ounce per sessions, but I immediately noticed an increase in production. In a week, I have started a significant stash and now catch 1-3 oz per session and have 55oz collected and stored (in just a week). I just started using the haakaa to pump in between night sessions (baby is now sleeping 5-7 hours at night - and my son is only a month old). I believe him getting more hindmilk at each feeding (i.e., from the second breast) is alleviating his gas/upset tummy as well as filling him up completely, which has been stretching his sleep periods. Before the haakaa, he would get too much foremilk too fast then get gassy from all the air he was sucking in at my let down then he would spit up most of his meal when he burped, causing a lot of mess and the need to nurse again shortly thereafter because he was hungry again. It was a frustrating cycle that I’ve suffered through with baby #1 in the past thinking there was no other way; now, I have a tool to help manage it. I use the haakaa to catch my overflow at each nursing session then finish the session by moving baby to the second breast, which, by then, has been relieved of most of the foremilk and allows him to get more of the filling hindmilk. The result is a combination of reduced gas and increased sleep, which has already made life better for both of us! A couple things for moms trying this for the first time: - It IS different than anything you’ve tried before. Be patient with yourself! You’ll get it. Try it during the day at first so you can see what you are doing when your mind is clear and can focus (and awake!!!). - If you want to use it as a catch system during nursing, don’t stress about the suction level, it’s easy to simply squeeze the bottom and attach - that’s enough suction to catch the let down. - If you want it to actually “pump,” then you need to follow the instructions by bending back the top, aligning your nipple with the small neck opening, squeeze the bottom, and attach. I’ve noticed that the release/pumping action actually happens about 45 seconds after attaching it when the bottom is almost fully open; after that happens, squeeze again and wait for the next release. It usually takes me 4 squeezes to completely fill the “4oz” haaka. I also recommend paying attention to the weight of the unit when pumping; as it fills up, you need to monitor the suction and the volume to avoid it falling off OR you squeezing a full haakaa and dumping it out on accident. - The 4oz haaka is NOT 4oz, it’s 100mL, which is 3.3 oz. Personally, I don’t care that the measurements are off, I just care that I’m getting the milk! I use bottles to measure my supply anyway. - Pay attention as your milk supply increases ... you’ll be surprised how fast you can pump or let down 3.5oz and have a mess on your hands when the haakaa itself overflows!!! Because of this, I’m ordering the 5oz/150mL version with the flower stopper. I will still use the 4oz during the day until my supply increases to the point that I need the 5oz all the time. Then I’ll probably get a second 5oz just so I can let the haakaa fully air dry between uses (saves a step of having to towel dry it ... maybe I’m lazy, or maybe I have three kids, or maybe I’m finally getting a handle on this mom thing?). - Tip: I have bottles that I use to pour the milk into after each haaka session; when the bottles get to 4oz, I transfer the milk to bags. This allows me to be sure I have 4oz in each bag and for all my bags to be uniform in quantity, which will make it easier to prepare bottles down the road. - Tip: if you are fortunate enough to get one of these (or use ANY pump) during the early days when you are still producing that beautiful golden colostrum milk, consider freezing THAT milk in 1oz cubes or bags so you can add that liquid gold to your more mature milk down the road ... this will give your baby powerful nutrition at 2+ months old that they normally would not get at that age. - Tip: use the haakaa after nursing on each breast to stimulate additional milk production. You may not get more milk that session, but it tells your body you need to make more - and it will! - You may find that you want to also use a classic electric pump to get that deep release when you are away from baby for longer periods ... be gentle to yourself and don’t put stress on you to do things a certain way. It’s fine to use two (or three or four) different products to make sure you have the support you need. Any method that gets milk to your baby is a good method and any tool that helps you do that is a good tool. Try different things until you find the ones that work best for you. - Tip: enjoy this time with your baby; it doesn’t last long. 💙

Amazing Product
I’m 2 weeks postpartum and this product has been SO HELPFUL with my engorgement! It is especially helpful if you are fatigued from constant nursing and pumping. I like to use it after a hot shower. I noticed that I had significant letdown after letting the hot water run over my chest and this helps to catch it. The amount seen in the photo I attached is 30ml of letdown from just one side. I was able to get an additional 30ml from the other side. All of this would’ve gone to waste inside of a nursing pad but, thanks to the Haakaa, I was able to bottle it and feed it to my baby later on. I HIGHLY recommend this!

Shrinkflation strikes again (2x buyer)
I have purchased this product twice for pumping after two pregnancies (2022 and 2025). It was by far the best silicone breast pump I used (I’ve probably tried 4 different brands now since they’re all relatively affordable at less than $20-$15). I really like that these work without any active pumping and just rely of the suction created by the initial squeeze and seal. I generally alternate baby on one side and pump on the other each feeding and it’s been really effective for me to keep my supply steady and baby fed- and I don’t even ever really need to use the pumped milk. I think some other reviewers may be confused about how this product works based on their comments, but if it helps anyone- know that you don’t actively squeeze and release this product to pump milk out, it just does it like a suction cup on glass (but not lol). All that said, I can’t give it five stars and my main point in writing this is that the product has changed between the last three years. The one I purchased in 2022 was at least a full 2 grams heavier (73g vs 71g) than what I purchased in 2025. This is a big difference for a product of this size made entirely of silicone. It was the quality, thickness and sturdiness that made the Haakaa so much better than the competitors, but it seems they have opted to reduce the most important aspects of the product to either increase profits or mask rising production costs and keep the consumer price stable (but for an inferior product). I was so disappointed when I realized this because the 2022 version was so good. Mine even works better than the competitors and 2025 haakaa after my dog chewed off part of the opening- not kidding. I could still recommend this product generally but it’s only marginally better than others now and if there’s any return buyers- know the product is not quite the same
