Ernie Ball John Mayer Silver Slinky Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings 3-Pack Tin - 10.5-47 Gauge

These strings are worth trying, especially on a 25.5 scale Strat. I put them on my Ibanez QX54QM, Headless "Strat", they are the strings for this guitar, going forward. I've put at least 20+ different string sets on looking for that perfect sound. Different gauge strings, different Alloys and Flatwound variations. We all do it, these could be a stopping off point for awhile! Reasonable price. They feel soft on the fingers but pump out the sound. I waited a month before writing this Review, just to make sure my initial response was true.

These are by far the best feeling strings I’ve ever come across on day 1. Not sure how they’ll age, but for right now, they’re silky slinky. Absolutely awesome, recommend highly on feel alone.

Great strings. Strong, slight stiffness to them and great sound. Love that their John Mayer and the packaging with John Mayer on it was very nice.

Beautiful strings and they sound great! They are really good for the money, and have had no issues and have had my pair on my guitar for 2 months without them feeling like they need a change. Quick note though, these are pretty heavy strings so if you are used to playing lighter than it’s something you’d have to get used to. For me with heavy hands and have a heavy attack, they work perfectly and not too heavy. The only reason I rate 4 stars is so people know it’s not for everyone, and unless you have thick hands/ heavy attack, you’ll be right at home.

Better than average for sure. I do like them and plan to buy more. Very crisp bell like sound. I do recommend...

If you’re looking for strings that are a little bit heavier than 10 to 46 these are awesome. If like to play a little harder on strumming or picking with out going out of tune. This is the string set you need. I’m very happy with this purchase.

I slapped these Ernie Ball John Mayer Silver Slinkys on my guitar and—no exaggeration—I think I caught feelings. The strings are so smooth and silky it’s like my fingertips are getting spa treatments while I play. My calluses? Gone. My confidence? Skyrocketed. My neighbors? Now convinced I’m auditioning for the next rom-com soundtrack. The tone is warm, rich, and just a little bit seductive. Every chord rings out like a heartfelt confession. Honestly, it’s borderline dangerous—because when I strummed an open G, I swear my guitar whispered, “play that again, babe.” I don’t know what John Mayer sprinkled into these (probably some sort of heartbreak seasoning), but suddenly my solos have more emotion than my last three relationships combined. I was just trying to practice scales, but now I’m contemplating writing a love song to a set of strings. 10/10—would 100% buy again, if only so I can keep pretending John Mayer personally blessed my guitar with his moisturized hands. 🎸✨

John got it right! Really like the slightly different gauges on these strings… fits my playing and sounds great. I’ve used Slinky’s anyway for years, so these feel like a step in the right direction

Tiempo de uso: de abril 2025 a finales de noviembre 2025, 5 días de la semana de 3 a 5 horas Tipo de uso: rudo e inapropiado Guitarra utilizada: Telecaster con puente fijo moderno de 25.5 pulgadas Afinaciones utilizadas: E estándar (abril a mayo), Eb y D estandar (junio a septiembre) E estándar (septiembre a noviembre) Muy buenas cuerdas a elegir, pase de unas 9-44 a estás por curiosidad, al principio las sentía muy duras pero con el paso de un mes y medio me acostumbré y me gustaron mucho, buen sustain y duraderas. Toque todo tipo de géneros pero más rock, blues y metal, en este último hacia bends agresivos y sin cuidado, me sorprende que haya resistido bien a los cambios de afinación, ya que había veces donde era necesario que cambiará de D estandar a E estándar y volviera a la afinación anterior, pensaba que se irían a romper por los bends pero muy sorprendentemente resistieron. El cambio se debe al tiempo de uso, al sonido ya un tanto opaco y que ya están negras en varias partes. Al parecer es normal que se pongan de ese color al poco tiempo, a mí me paso a la semana, y también perdieron brillo, a la semana, que ya se notó el sonido un poco más apagado. También resistieron bien al sudor, agua y bebidas azucaradas que por accidente fueron derramadas, quedó bastante satisfecho, lo único malo es el color que adquirieron al muy poco tiempo, con lo demás estoy más que satisfecho.

Ernie Ball John Mayer Silver Slinky, Sliver slinky gauge set of 10.5, 13.5, 17.5, 27, 37, 47. Said to be “perfectly tailored” to the man himself. I been experimenting and was curious to see what the the custom string set would be like. I usually use 10s and these being effectively thicker i was wondering what the impact would be in regards to bends. Ive used 11s and personally they didn't suit my play style so being in the middle. The top string being slightly thicker it is noticeable and bends are better and easier than 11s. I also enjoyed the tones they provided. These are a solid option for any Strats
