First Impressions - VamPLIERS VT-001-S2G long nose pliers and the ESD safe 5" Mini Pliers
To start off, this is my first ever review of anything on any product purchased online.I needed to upgrade an early 90s Craftsman lineman’s pliers and regular mini pliars. Stumbled upon a YouTube video for the Vamplier Tool Company the caught my interest. After some short consideration, I decided to buy the VT-001-7LN long needle nose and the mini ESD safe grip 5” Vamplier for more precise electrical work. Some background on me, I am an extreme DIY person have an EE degree, some mechanical engineering experience and knowledgeable enough in material science to make myself dangerous or confused – still not sure.THE REVIEW: On first glance, the tool packaging is busy and the printing for all of its merits is hard to read for me. You get to 50, and anything under 9pt text is barely readable. But really, it’s the tool that matters the most.My impression out of the box is they put a lot of effort in the fit and finish. I suspect being built in Japan does make a difference. Up close with a pair of Jewelers Glasses and a 10x loupe, the quality of the casting just above the toughened rubber handles shows a very fine grain casting. Porosity is nil, and grain structure looks tight. Looking between the handle throat, you can see the heat treatment by the rainbow colors that bring it to a case hardened HRC60 as stated. The machining and polishing is top notch. All of the engagement points from the interlocking teeth in the front to the cutter near the throat of the business end are milled sharp and align perfectly. If you have a large hand like I do, they still fit comfortably without feeling small, but still give enough leverage to get the vast majority jobs done. The toughened rubber handles are embossed with what looks like a pattern from the Transformers series of movies. Simply put, the pliers have incredible traction in the hands with no sense of slipping out. The pliers had their first use installing a dimmer switch. I twisted four 14 gauge neutral, hot, and ground lines into their respective bundles. The unique jaws with the gullet milled down the center of the nose made it easy to grab on to twist the bundle before the wire nuts went on. Although they are not specifically lineman’s pliers, they were far more effective than my dedicated Craftsman lineman’s from 20 years ago. I wouldn’t go beyond 4 solid 14 gauge wires, and probably no more than three 12 gauge wires when twisting the bundle. Larger bundles of smaller gauge wire become easier. Using the jaws to snip the bundle clean is very easy. The jaws are very sharp, leaving no wire hangnails. Cutting solid or stranded wire gauges smaller than 28 gauge is probably not practical because there is a small air gap of maybe .01” when the dike portion is closed. This should be no reason not to buy them. Most pliers with cutters at the throat don’t engage nearly as well as this one does. It’s probably a moot issue. The interlocking teeth are probably its most striking feature. The meshing of the teeth is deep and sharp leaving no possibility of something pulling out. Never seen this in any needle nose pliers before, but I think I am going to like this feature. Historically, I have never had a large need to remove stripped screws from primarily carpentry work I do. But, I can see this tool transferring torque to the screw head more so than any other pliers I have seen with its machined gullet at the nose. I have not found a stripped screw condition to test this yet though.I bought the mini ESD safe grip 5” Vamplier for the many occasions I have need to repair consumer electronics (i.e. Plasma Display, a/v receivers and etc.). For the many occasions I have need to repair consumer electronics (i.e. Plasma Display, a/v receivers and etc.). On many occasions I have need to repair consumer electronics (i.e. Plasma Display, a/v receivers and etc.) Most recently, I used them to install a GFCI . They are great for getting into tight areas, grabbing on to the end of the solid core wire and wrapping the grounds to receptacles. Same great fit and finish. I always appreciate a set of pliers whose handed nose ends actually mate flat and square to each other. Many inexpensive pliers have tapered or flat air gaps that make them pretty much worthless. These are the complete opposite. The only design change that would be nice to see is a flat bar spring between the handles to open the handles with one hand more easily. Not a deal breaker.Overall, I would highly recommend both these tools. Both have great versatility and quality at a very fair price. Thanks Vamplier.

Great product
Not your everyday tool but when you need them worth every cent just when you pull out one screw they pay for themselves
