Good value to support classroom learning, but some issues for those with language processing difficulties.
Overall whether bought by schools as extension or supply materials, ( or most likely classroom work ) or by the parent for extra support or for home tuition activities this is a nice , if thin, activity book that can be tailored for supported or independent learning through the inclusion of e answer sheet. What makes this a bit better than your average 'workbook' is that includes investigations to show science in action rather than as 'stuff in a book' which is very valuable to young minds, however the downside is only one of these is practical, the others are theoretical which although there are indeed vast swathes of theoretical only science, it does perpetuate the subject as a 'sitting down quietly' one to children. My other issue with the book is one that CGP may not even have realised and that is that there are some misleading syntax/phraseology and questions that would prove problematic for children with language processing difficulties such as autistic spectrum disorders such as in the classification keys section children are asked at one stage if creatures printed in greyscale are 'black and white' which the writers are hoping the children will realise bats and flies don't tend to have white pigmentation in reality but to this type of mindset the answer would be 'yes' because the picture is printed in black and white. Simple issues for a publisher but very difficult for a child with language and syntactical processing difficulties to comprehend the intended meaning. Overall, this is a good book to help support leanring, but may need tweaking for SEN students or those who have a more hands-on practical interest in science.

great
This booklet is designed for children who are following the year 4 science topics Classifying Living things, Habitats and The Environment. There are over 30 pages in the workbook and each page has a section title and revision questions. At the bottom of some of the pages there is a ‘Lets Investigate’ section for deepening a child’s understanding. The answers are in the middle of the booklet on the back of a pull out A3 poster. Great for revision.
