I love the AYRELY 22inch Grandfather Chiming Wall Clock. The feature that drew my interest to this clock was the promise that the electronic chimes do not sound electronic. And I wasn't disappointed. It's hard to believe the simulated chime sounds from inside this clock aren't the real deal. Best sounding battery operated clock Ive ever had. Plus I love this clock in that it has four different chime modes. One minor inconvenience is if you want to switch chime modes it will take a tad more then just sliding a button into a different mode. As I said, only a minor inconvenience. Plus with these clocks you get a very nice/informative instruction booklet to help you operate your clock. This clock operates on four AA batteries which aren't included. Two batteries operate the chimes, and one battery apiece for the clock and pendulum. I love the cabinet design of this clock as it resembles a grandfather clock. Ive always wanted a real grandfather clock, but they're a little more then what I can afford for a timepiece. But this AYRELY Grandfather Wall Clock is the next best thing! Sounds great and very attractive hanging up on my living room wall. Now here is what isn't so attractive and prevented me from giving this clock a five star rating. When I opened the AYRELY box that was inside the Amazon box the clock was packaged very securely inside styrofoam. The pendulum was taped securely onto a piece of cardboard inside the clock. I removed the pendulum from the piece of cardboard and on the lower part of the pendulum itself was a piece of clear tape which was obviously put on this section to protect the sheen/finish of the pendulum. I peeled off this tape and in doing so a lot of the adhesive from the tape remained on the pendulum. It was very unsightly. I used hot water and a soft cloth to try and loosen up the adhesive, but all it did was smear the adhesive. Personally I feel it would have been better if AYRELY hadn't put this very sticky tape on the pendulum at all. I went to AYRELY's website and left them a message with my issue and contact info. Since I am unable to remove the adhesive I feel I should be sent a replacement pendulum and hoping it won't result in a similar issue. If they stand behind their products and customers they should make this right for me. Once they do, I will most certainly change my four star rating from a four to a five. UPDATE: Nine months after my purchase I've become very disappointed in this clock. I've changed my four star rating to a one star. After corresponding with AYRELY back in February regarding my pendulum I was told they'd send me an identical one when they were supposed to be in stock. Well that never happened. And then about three weeks ago the chime box in my clock began to constantly fall out of sync with the current hour. Usually calling one hour behind after the quiet hours. First thing in the morning at 6am no chime... at 7am it would chime six times. It would be off by one hour the remainder of the day. Then there are times it won't chime at all and I am forced to reset everything until it does it again. It isn't a battery issue nor is it a failure to follow the instructions properly in the manual. The clock keeps great time and I love the sound of the chimes.. When they're working properly. I plan to email ARELY with this issue to see what they have to say about this. I paid over $100 for this clock and I sure expected it to work perfectly a helluva lot longer then nine months! UPDATE #2: Since my first update ARELY customer service has reached out to me regarding the two previous issues I had with my clock. (The pendulum and faulty chime box) I didnt have to contact them it was they who initiated the path to making things right with a very nice note in my email in box. ARELY Customer Support stated that they had recently run across (my) review and the previous messages and they were shocked and upset that my previous issue was never handled properly. They couldn't say it enough times how truly sorry they were for my inconvenience and frustration. It was explained the representative who I originally communicated with back in February had left their company, and unfortunately my case (regarding the pendulum) was never passed on or followed up. Customer Support admitted this was a serious internal mistake on their part, and they will take full responsibility for it. They added the reason I couldn't get a replacement pendulum at the time of my initial review was due to sudden tariff policy changes as an entire shipment of their clocks and most of their spare parts were returned by U.S. Customs back to the factory. So that left ARELY without any replacement units or components for a period of time. But they admitted they should have kept me informed and continued to help me and they sincerely apologized that they did not. Then they quickly pointed out their inventory has since been fully restocked, and they would now like to make things right in the best way possible. And that they did! They sent me a replacement clock at no cost to me, and I didn't have to return the faulty one. ARELY not only took the time to explain things to me in great detail along with what I feel were heartfelt apologies, but they took accountability and made things right in their best possible way. That's what I call true Customer Service. I really do believe my satisfaction matters to them. For this alone I am going to change my one star rating to a five star rating. Oh, and it only took three days to receive my replacement clock and it works beautifully.

For appearance, it deserves 5 stars. In fact, I may just keep it because I love how it looks. The case is mahogany and the design is classic. I love the Roman numerals and the lyre pendulum, and I could just watch this clock for hours. It seems thoughtfully made, and arrived carefully packed. I'm disappointed that it lacks a sweep second hand, but I see that all the clocks of this size/type lack it. My two main complaints are 1. that if you want to turn off the chimes, such as at bedtime (to not be wakened by the chimes at 6 a.m.), the clock must be taken down from the wall to access the chime switch – despite what AI told me when I posted the question two different ways. And 2. I wanted to hear the chimes only on the hour, but instead of striking bong, bong, bong it strikes ding-dong, ding-dong, ding-dong (the first two notes of the Westminster melody rather than the deeper hourly chimes) – not as deep and sonorous as if I were to choose the Westminster melody. So I haven't decided whether to keep this, but if I do it will be for its excellent good looks. So far, it is keeping accurate time. Update: The longer I have it, the more I love it. I'm keeping it, and enjoying it. By reducing the volume of the chime, I find I sleep through the 6 a.m. chime, so it's not a problem. And I've become accustomed to the hourly chime, and find it pleasant. Once I got past the things about it I wasn't expecting, I really like this clock. I've changed my rating from 3 stars to 4, but I didn't give it 5 only because "Rufus" (AI) told me I'd be able to turn off the chime without taking it down from the wall, which isn't true. That's possibly Amazon's fault rather than the manufacturer.

Loved how the clock looked. Was easier to set up than I expected. My son is happy so that’s what matters.

the electronic chimes sounds close to the real chimes. keeps accurate time after adjusting the pendulum. easy to mount on the wall. all time and sound controls are not accessible when it’s the wall.

An excellent wall clock! The chimes were a bit tricky to set up, but the clock functions well, and really looks good!

It is quite a beautiful clock, the chimes are loud enough and very clear. I would not say it is all that easy to set, I dont know if it is just the one I received but the chimes went off striking the wrong number of chimes for the actual time. I followed the directions exactly as they are written, I even had my husband try to correct it. But no luck. Honestly I dont mind it going off at 4am.. I just wish the back was wood also, I would have paid more for that detail. All and all Im very glad I purchased it.

Well packaged. Looks lovely. Initial set up I hope this will help others if you have an issue with it. Followed instructions, however, on mode 2 (Westminster hour/quarter chime) it struck 7 not 6. So every hour, time was correct but chime was one hour fast. I re read instructions. You must not turn the hands anticlockwise it does not tell you that however, I know this from other clocks. I turned it off. Took out the chime batteries left it 3 seconds, put the hands exactly to 6.50 re installed the batteries, turned it on and pressed "set", it then chimed the 6 times. Then you set the correct time. When you set the clock time you need to let the clock chime its full chime everytime you pass the hour til you reach the correct time. It then chimed perfectly and does keep excellent time, as long as your batteries are good. I love the clock, it has no tick though if your looking for that this clock chimes but no tick. When it comes to setting it, take your time but read the manual fully. Its lovely. The sound quality is good and even up full its not loud just right. As for value for money im happy.

Lovely clock chimes like Big Ben

The clock is beautiful. It is an accurate time keeper. It looks great and distinguished on my wall. However. The chimes are not really what I expected. The tune is played too often when I only expected the chimes to match the hour without the tune. As a consequence I've turned the tune and chimes off completely. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a grandfather clock! But I still love it.
