Reliance 9000405-045 4500 Water Heater Element

Just overhauled the electric water heater. Drained tank to check for sediment, nothing there, old heater elements were scaled over, like 13 years old. Replaced top and bottom with this type. Thought there was something wrong with these, did not hear anything when I turned the power back on. Verified voltage though and it was good. New ones are like, WAY quiet, compared to scaled ones, So the sound I was used to wasn't there anymore. Heats up water well and quickly. Great surface area and easy to replace. Very happy. New water heater basically for $48.

These cost the same as a retail water heater element, but in my hard well water they last 4x. Being lower wattage, the scale doesn't build up in the water heater as fast, either!Even if the cost was significantly more, not having to change elements so often would be worth any difference. That these are not extra cost is a delight.

Fit perfect without leaking. Water temperature is exactly where I want it after replacing this and the thermostat. I can't tell if there is any energy savings/loss compared to the element that was replaced.

I'm sure the element is great. But after installing (Including thermostats) in my 10 year old tank it started to leak. Thought I'd save a few bucks, no dice on this one. Ended up having to buy a new tank.Not a fun day ;(

Used to replace the element in my electric hot water heater. Work great. I noticed a slight reduction in my electric bill. They screw into the stantard electrod hole. Highly recomment them.
