Q: do they come with batteries?

Yes they come with batteries and a charger. Happy with the product and price, expect a 2-3 hour battery life on high mode

Q: When I turn the heater on the screen starts flashing for about 10 seconds and shuts off. Any fixes?

Without an error code, hard to tell. If the pump is primed, and you see fuel in line after pump, I would say it’s not that. what voltage does your display show? P-12, p-13? Check connection to motherboard and glow plug connection. Hard to tell without more info. I would double check that your power source can deliver at least 9 amps. Seems like it may not be seeing a successful glow plug cycle?

Q: Does it have a Thermostat or just different heat levels and the fan is on continuously?

The control unit has a thermostat on it though in not sure how accurate it is. And yes, due to the design of these heaters the fan is on continuously for it to work correctly. If the heater loses power without shutting down first it will almost certainly burn up the unit and it will cease to function.
