It does what it looks like, sort of.
Only had it a couple of weeks so we will see. But first off it looks good, still prefer the look of the GPO Brooklyn but advise against buying that one. Sound is actually really good and cd dab Bluetooth all work well, sound is superior to the Brooklyn I have both but display on Brooklyn gone and can't fix. Anyway back to this thing, from what I've read up it's the best about and there's not a lot so I say for the money it's spot on, only issue is tape recorder play back from recording Bluetooth very noisy and complete rubbish, but tape from cd ok so far.

By far the best modern retro style boom box.
First off the designers have absolutely nailed the looks, it's one very good looking machine. It's much better built than the more expensive GPO Brooklyn, the buttons feel decent and the knobs feel excellent with weight behind them. Bass and treble do what they're supposed to and actually have a marked effect on the sound. It also sounds way, way better than the GPO, in fact it sounds better than any other similar boom box I've tried. CD playback, FM and DAB radio all sound good as does MP3 from USB. Bluetooth also works well with no dropout that I could hear. But I hear you cry, what about cassette?. On playback, very good indeed for a modern boom box. Full stereo, speed at least on mine is stable too. Again it's probably the best sounding modern cassette playback boom box, better than my Sony CD-S70 and miles better than the aforementioned GPI Brooklyn. It's also heavy and well made too. So what's bad?. Recording onto tape is bad quality. It uses the same permanent magnet erase head that all except the Teac/Tascam hifi decks use. If recording tapes is your thing buy a proper cassette deck, but for playing back music on cassette, CD etc. then this is an excellent bu3t in my opinion.

Cassette player is unusable junk
The media could not be loaded. It really looks the part, the radio and CD player sounds great, but if you’re buying this for the cassette player don’t, it’s absolutely junk. I bought it for the cassette player and I have tested about 50 tapes in it. From cold tapes to brand new release and all them act the same in that they wah and flutter and the sound dips in and out. I’m going to keep testing it for a week or so and probably send it back as it doesn’t meet my needs.

Flawed but still recommended
Memories of my AMSTRAD Tape to Tape from 1983 this is a great stereo in it's own right.Easy to use, and a lot of kit for your money. (There is no remote control offered with it)The Bluetooth worked straight away but I need a 10 metre cable into the very useful AUX jack to play my YouTube from down the corridor and round the corner. This is great for playback on all outputs DAB/AUX/CD/USB/Cassette - but they are out of balance - and the cassette canot tape them at all well. The CD buffers it's data and the tape has digital noise reduction showing that the software is capable of modification. That being said, a firmware update could bring things back in order. Any device with a SD card slot should be able to ingest and load a patch to make all the inputs match to the level required to balance the recordings.I really do love this machine and hope it can be made better by a firmware update.

Excellent sound, good for phone connectivity - RUBBISH for older media
I have had this unit a while now and I wanted to give it a chance before I posted a review. This is a good sounding stereo system - in fact it has excellent sound reproduction at loud volumes. In my opinion the speakers are some of the best out there for the price - on par with Bose and Sony in my opinion - and is exactly what I expected Roxel to produce having seen some of their other monitors (speakers). Lets be honest, most of us (like me) will connect to the speakers via Bluetooth. This works exceptionally well, and it uses Bluetooth V5 so it is able to synchronize with video playback, eliminating the annoying milliseconds of lag that older Bluetooth versions used to suffer from. The Radio antenna has excellent gain and the FM and DAB de-modulation units seem to have excellent excellent channel filters - although, this may be due to the large tuner which allows easier adjustment (for standard FM).Now, this is my annoyance with the system. The CD player and tape deck is CHEAP!. The cassette player does not support auto reverse, which became a standard in the 80's. Whats more annoying, is that the player does not support auto stop when fast forward or rewinding, meaning that it has to be monitored by someone (so no leaving the room to to grab a drink or use the privy) or else the motor remains engaged at either end of the tape (leading to a damaged tape and - eventually - a burned out motor). The CD player isn't much better.. In the 90's, CD's would continuously play so it became common to merge songs between tracks (think Pink Floyd albums or classic clubbing anthems). Then, the world was introduced to the cheap portable CD players that buffered the music up until the end of the current track for skip protection and battery conservation. These had their place for those who went out exercising or walking round town with limited battery life. Now, considering the boombox is technically an old style portable device, you could argue that the portable CD player mechanisms have a place in it... but the ghetto blaster is a throw back to the 80's, before portable CD players were a thing. It is also clear that the CD control board is a common place, and cheap unit with no thought into how older music used to be produced. The reason why I am annoyed is that the unit is aimed at the nostalgia for older music, and the way it was played... but this unit cannot play older CD's for the way they were supposed to be intended.Overall, a good attempt and it will appeal to the youngsters that don't really have an intention to use the tape player or use the CD player for anything other than pop music. But those of us with a collection of the older media that we want to use, then this is not for us.
