Easy to use and highly configurable VoIP gateway
This device is so cool and useful - I actually bought it so that I could add some analog telephones to my house for my daughters, so that I can avoid giving them smart phones, with a goal toward hooking it up to a VoIP PBX at some future point so that the phones can actually dial out. It works great - my daughters are able to call each others' rooms, which is fun, and the initial setup is pretty easy. It's a very flexible, configurable device. The only thing it's lacking is the ability to disable the lines on a schedule - other than that, it works great!

Nice gateway with lots of FXS ports
I bought this product for the 8 port FXS gateway, not the router, so I can't review that. I'm using the HT818 to replace a Cisco SPA112 that is EOL now. The price is GREAT for 8 ports. Setup is simple, fast and easy especially with the t38Fax guides. Right now I have only 2 lines setup on the HT818 (via 1 trunk): 1 line is a voice line through t38Fax with a local area code connected to a cordless phone system. The other line is connected to a standard all-in-one printer with fax machine built in and it works great! This second line also has a local area code. I have two more lines with TFNs connected to Bria Solo (soft phone) and T38 Fax & Voice for a software approach to sending and receiving calls and faxes. I went with a software fax so I don't need a seperate physical fax machine to carry around. It's super handy. The HT818 I received did not have the latest firmware on it, which you can download from GrandStream's website and upload into the gateway easily from the bin file. Otherwise, everything basically worked out of the box and I was up and running within minutes.

I've always had good luck with Grandstream devices.
Firmware looks a bit dated but works fine. I was able to connect it to a Asterisk server with no fuss, and had a line up quickly. Pulse dialing works but is disabled by default. I was able to send a test fax with no issues. It supports 8 lines across two separate SIP servers. All the lines can be on one SIP server or split between two. Out of the box it just did what I expected it to do, I've always had good luck with Grandstream devices. I don't intend to use it as a router, other than possible QoS routing complexity I recommend putting it behind another firewall device. But if you're buying a ATA you probably already know all about congestion and QoS.

Finally got rid of AT&T thanks to this ATA
I used this at my office to run an Avaya Partner Plus PBX phone system with 4 roll over (hunting) lines. I currently have Voip.ms configured with this box and it is working perfectly. Configuring the ATA is not easy but also not to difficult to setup if you watch a few youtube videos. Audio quality is very good and better than the AT&T POTS lines in our area. we have been using this box for about 3 months now and it is working perfectly. Highly recommend this ATA if you are looking for an analog telephone adapter.

Great for the price
Works with rotary dial phones the only ATA that will do that that’s affordable

Simply the easiest to setup.
We used callcentric as our VOIP service provider and there was good instructions at their website to get the Grandsrteam HT818 setup and going. In addition enough other people own this model there are a other examples on the internet to get this box going with other services as well. There was only one confusing part in the GUI. Where you enable a port was not laid out well and I was actually disabling the ports. Once I upgraded the firmware this was fixed in the latest version and I discovered the mistake. The sound quality is good. We had a Cisco SPA8000 before this box and it literally has crystal clear audio. This is box is a close second so no complaints. The only ding, I did not take away a star for this as it is a personal thing, the LEDs are all on top of the unit and since we rack mounted this velcroed to a shelf I had to setup a mirror to see the LEDs as the shelf is mounted high in a rack.

Absolute Kaufempfehlung !
