Red Heart Super Saver Mega Yarn Craft Kit for Crochet & Knitting & Amigurumi Projects

Overall, this is a great value for what you are getting. I paid around $50 for the Mega Craft Kit with 36 skeins in assorted colors. I am currently learning how to crochet, so this will come in handy as I try my hand at amigurumi. When the kit arrived, I was initially surprised by the size of skeins in the package. I was expecting sizes similar to ones I have purchased individually, or as a bundle of 3 in a single color. In full honesty, I didnt do a lot of research in reading the description of the product before hand, and would have known the skeins would be smaller if I had. That being said, I was disappointed at first, but realized rather quickly that it will work perfect for my needs without excess yarn, and can always pick up larger skeins of ones I know I will use more often and need more of. The skeins are standard for the Red Heart brand and feel the same as the larger ones, which makes sure that projects made from this kit will be consistent where each brand can be different from each other as far as thickness and texture. This will also work well for the the Red Heart skeins that I already have. I love that this comes in a zippered case for storage as well as keeping it clean and dust free. Will definitely purchase again at a later date when I need to restock and want an assortment of colors. If you are starting out and learning knitting or crocheting, I definitely recommend this kit because it gives you an array of colors all in one bundle for less than you would pay for large skeins of all 36 colors individually. (I estimated around $150-$250 in total ranging from $5-$7 per large skein of each color at my local craft store, but stores prices may vary.) This will get you started for basic crafting projects and color versatility. It is a great way to build up your yarn cabinet for yarncraft projects.

Bought as a gift, and the size was just right for giving. The colors were bright and vibrant, and the quality was excellent.

This is perfect for my needs!! I don't have a lot of spare space so I can't keep all these colors of yarn in bulk! So this is great to have on hand when I need a certain color for a project. With two colors I made a tablet case 5 inches by 8 inches )for my cousin. And it used half a skein of both colors. So again if you are looking for normal sized skeins this is not for you! I love this! It would make a great gift for a beginner!

It’s good yarn and there are a lot of colors and there is a wide variety. However, it is the small skein of yarn and I want the regular size yarn! I want the full size so I don’t have to use miniature needles anymore. So I am very disappointed that I ended up with a small yarn again. EDIT Yes the skeins are small but it is great yarn! They must have compacted it because once I started using it, I was surprisingly happy at how durable the yarn is. It does not fuzz and break. It is really good yarn!

Lots and lots of yarn, perfect for trying out crocheting without splurging and with all the colors you can do many projects. To put into perspective the rolls came in a bag the size of three big baking trays stacked on top of each other. Something to note about the yarn is that are a bit fuzzy so if you’re starting off crocheting like me, you should be careful about your hook catching in between the threads, but after some time you’ll get used to it. I eventually spent 4 of these rolls on a project! I would buy again!

The balls are small, but I expected that -- I was looking for a bit of many colors to diversify my crochet projects on a budget. The colors are bright & the skeins are beautifuly rolled, with an easy center pull, but honestly I got better quality, softer yarn at the dollar store (also acrylic, "just yarn" brand...I just wish they carried more colors!). The plys of this yarn come apart quite easily, so that a few times within every ~50 stitches I accidentally hook THROUGH, not AROUND, and have to proceed carefully until I'm at a point where it's wound tighter. It's also fairly scratchy & I'm finding myself combining it with other brands for wearables just so it's not ALL scratchy/itchy. I've only been crocheting about 6mos & have consistently heard about Red Heart Super Saver being a great option, but that hasn't been my experience.

Nice group of yarn colors. Just keep in mind these are small skeins of regular Red Heart yarn. Worth it for the right project.
