You get way more value than you pay for
I just finished installing the PL963PM6U, and as advertised—it was easy peasy. I connected it using an Eero mesh network router as a bridge, hooked up to an Ethernet cable and a PoE adapter for power. Fun fact: I repurposed the old doorbell’s telephone wires as an Ethernet cable using RJ45 female ends, and it worked perfectly. There were 12 wires in the cableSetting up tenants through the admin portal was also straightforward. One useful tip from GBF tech support: consider using a single administrator email for all six units in your PMS web portal. Then, use the "Share Access" feature within the app to give each tenant system access individually. If a tenant moves out, you can simply revoke their access and share it with the next tenant. They even included images showing how to do this via smartphone.I spent a lot of time researching intercom systems for our Manhattan brownstone. Alternatives like ButterflyMX and Swiftlane were significantly more expensive and required ongoing monthly fees. This system, on the other hand, works with a free app called DoorDeer, which allows you to see and talk to visitors and unlock the front door remotely. You can also purchase separate doorbell chimes for each unit in case tenants miss notifications when their phones are off. I also programmed RF cards for each tenant to use as keyless entry—huge bonus. The DoorDeer app is fast, reliable, and incredibly user-friendly. My tenants love it—especially now that they no longer have to be home to receive Amazon packages.I was a little hesitant at first due to the manufacturer’s unpolished website and low-quality tutorial videos. But don’t let that fool you—this is a first-class product and a fantastic investment for any rental property. Highly recommended.

Excellent Intercom System with Outstanding Customer Support
This GBF system was exactly what I was searching for! I needed dual access options - both app and keypad PIN - to accommodate all tenants, especially those less comfortable with technology. Love that it's hardwired via CAT6 cable instead of depending on WiFi, which eliminates the need for a separate internet plan and ensures reliable connectivity.PROS:Fantastic flexibility with both app and keypad accessHardwired connection for dependable performanceOutstanding customer support - quick responses, detailed guidance, and went above and beyondVersatile connectivity - successfully connected to both pedestrian gate striker and Liftmaster driveway gate motorSuper DIY-friendly installation with clear instructionsPOE functionality makes power management simplerExcellent camera qualityTerrific app features:Individual user accounts for each unitPIN code access with scheduling optionsTemporary PINs for deliveries/maintenanceRobust admin website for managing users and settingsINSTALLATION:Smoothly installed by running CAT6 from the intercom to router/switch, using POE for intercom power. Connected low voltage wiring for the striker in a loop with the gate motor.MINOR CONSIDERATIONS:Optional monitor ($179) is basic - not recommendedWould be convenient if striker could be powered directly from intercomAnnual subscription required for full multi-unit functionality (~$75/year for 3 units) - this should be more clearly stated in product descriptionWould love future integration with Alexa for camera displayOVERALL:I'm absolutely thrilled with this system! The perfect blend of traditional keypad and modern app access makes it ideal for all users, regardless of tech-savviness. The hardwired connection ensures rock-solid reliability. Despite the subscription cost, the system delivers exceptional value. The combination of versatile features, reliable performance, and exceptional customer support makes this an outstanding investment for multi-unit properties. Couldn't be happier with my choice!

Works great, has the right price and the perfect set of features
We manage a 100+ year old Edwardian residential building in San Francisco, with 3 units and a security gate protecting the building at the street. We've been looking for the right replacement for the ancient video system that would allow buzzable remote access at the gate. On the one end of the market are inexpensive, but poorly-supported systems that require very costly in-wall wiring to the units. On the other are very expensive wireless systems with very high monthly monitoring fees. The GBF Smart Video Doorbell system is the perfect balance. The units are mid-priced between the two types of systems, and monitoring fees are much lower. The nice-looking and well-lighted camera unit sits on the gate. It can be wired or wireless. Since WIFI is spotty at the gate, we used a Cat 6 wire to connect to the nearest unit's internet router. In each unit is a 7 inch monitor connected to that unit's WIFI, so no wiring except for a power plug. A bigger-sized monitor would have been better, but audio and video quality is decent to good. Each unit has their own account on the provided app, which is pretty straighforward to use and allows cell-phone video access and gate buzzing from anywhere in the world. The remote access features have been a big hit in the building. The camera has a keypad to allow remote access. Each unit can setup their own access code for themselves and guests, including when the codes expire. As property managers, we can monitor all access activities and change tenants access when necessary. Installation was mostly straightforward, although take care to follow the instructions precisely. It supports 2.4GHz WIFI only. We had trouble with signals that combined 2.4/5GHz. The system has been in place for a month now, and works flawlessly. Customer support picked up immediately and was excellent at resolving the few installation issues we had, and answering questions on how to use the app's features. The whole system works great and is perfect for us. We highly recommend this system!
