All the features of this hat are really well thought out. Fully mesh lined crown, and the outer part is unattached at the sides plus has screen covered ventilation holes up high, so even sweaty heads like my guy's should stay comfortable. There's elastic at the back of the sweatband plus a drawcord for secure fit. The chinstrap has press release fittings that appear very sturdy. It's windy here, so chinstraps are important to us. The back skirt can be rolled up if you're carrying a pack. The outer fabric is water resistant and very quick drying. You might get a bit wet in a downpour but anything less and you stay dry. Sun protection is great! My partner has skirted ball cap type sunhats but he says this is better. We live in New Mexico and need sun protection year round, so this hat will get lots of use. Sizing is pretty generous. Partner's head measures 23-5/8 (60cm). One reason I picked this hat is "one size fits most" is usually too small. The L/XL is actually a little big! After adjusting the drawcord it fits securely. It came folded into quarters in a plastic bag. The wrinkles came out of the skirt just by saturating with warm water and hang drying. It was easy to get the fold out of the brim by bending gently in the opposite direction. Even if you have an average size head this hat is worth spending the little bit extra. The stitching is tight and firmly locked. With all the features, it should provide years of comfort and protection.

i got a fat head and this fit fine ... the back flap kept the sun off my neck when hiking ... nice light weight and light color really helped keep me cool in the sun .. fully recommend

Great sun protection. If you're worried about high UV light, this is the hat for you. I was born a red haired fair skinned male. I've had fewer headaches from sun exposure thanks to this hat. The fit is fully adjustable from the sizes sold. I bought a medium/large size and it fits well with my 7 3/4 head size. I believe this size would fit those with a head size out to 8 1/2. Perhaps even larger. Material and workmanship on this hat was exemplary. This also does an excellent job of covering the neck. I love the detachable chin strap as it's not always needed. However, nothing is truly perfect. The opening to the mess lining is minimalist at best. I sweat profusely but this hat does a better job of keeping my head cooler than a ball cap or other beach hats. As to it being water proof, I can't claim to have been in a downpour or in a jungle scenario. I have worn it in a light rain and it kept the water off my head for the most part. It does do a great job of keeping the rain out of sunglasses while walking or riding a bicycle thanks to its rather stiff 2 inch front brim. All in all this is a great value for the price. Very light weight and draws compliments from others not to mention questions of where people can get their own.

Husband LOVES the hat! ~I have had a difficult time finding a large enough one for his dome, and this ticked all the prerequisites! He is a redhead, works outside 90%, and his head/neck was taking a beating.. The adjustable strap, helps keep snug/in place. Machine washable. (I personally lay flat to dry). Will be purchasing "back ups"!!!!

Keeps my head much cooler than any other hat I have owned. The wind feels great with this hat. I can tell there is a temperature difference with it as well. I have used this hat all spring and summer in Florida.

As everyone else says it is absolutely creased right in middle of forehead. However I saw that going into it and with a 8 1/4 hat normally chose to go forward with purchase cuz I’m mowing and hardworking and not trying win any beauty pageants. Fits great, fairly light weight. Not a bad buy.

Guter Hut l, schützt vor Sonne und man kann ihn mit einem Band anpassen, Größe 59, die ich habe,passt. Schützt auch den Nacken,was wichtig ist. Ob er wasserdicht ist,kann ich nicht sagen, war noch nicht in der Situation,aber ich würde diesbezüglich nicht allzuviel erwarten. Sonst aber gut,bin zufrieden

Everyone has laughed at me they say I look like a cross between Paddington bear and Vera the detective,but I don't care. The important thing is that I will be protected from the sun. It has a wide brim great neck cover best of all it fits my big head.
