Quite effective and reasonably priced
As a seasoned freshwater fish keeper I've had a ton of filters and other equipment over my time and was happy to try this 3 stage filter out from AQQA and have to say that I think for the money (just under £31 at time of review) is very reasonable and it's rather intuitive to use and maintain without much referral to the manual.A simple bottom section contains the large debris sponge filters although there is 3 different colours of sponge this has no significance to what each colour means lol. Some brands supply their filters with sponge filters in black for example that are purely carbon based and ideal for removing chemicals, impurities etc there is no indication from the maker to why their sponge filter media is different colours!None the less they are ideal for capturing larger debris such as fish waste, uneaten food and so on.Then we have the next section of the filter which contains the ceramic media balls (supplied in a small bag which you'll need to open and empty into the basket) and then the carbon balls which again comes in a small bag which needs emptying into the other side of the filter insert basket.Features such as air intake and adjustable outlet flow are all incorporated and the whole thing is easy to remove and clean.I like the amount of outlet flow heads there are which gives you choice on how to distribute clean water either as a strong flow, shower style or narrow channel so you can decide. It arrives with everything you need to set up and a good number of suction cups (although I do wish manufacturers would put a set of spares inside) so you can attach it to the aquarium glass easily. It also has plenty of wire so you should find it easy to plug in somewhere (close to the tank of course)It's all easily cleanable too which is a major plus point including the propellers.Overall I'm quite impressed with this filter and apart from liking to see spare media (carbon and ceramic) and more suction cups I'd highly recommend this for the price and is great for medium sized tanks.

Very good filter, but not for the size range specified
This is a good filter, quiet, compact - which means only a small amount of filter media.I have found that it is ideal to use it as a backup filter, running alongside a canister filter with room for greater filter surface area. If you use this configuration, then the intervals between cleaning can be extended. But for me, it is ideal for use as a pump. The fact that you can't see the filter media could be both a positive and a negative: it makes the filter look more elegant, but at the same time, you need to open it to see the state of it.The one quibble I have is that the filter is listed as being suitable for aquariums which are sized 200 - 680 L. There is no doubt that it provides a lot of surface movement, but there is no way it would efficiently provide filtration for aquariums at the larger end of that range on its own. It should be marketed for aquariums which are no more than 320 L.

Robust filter for medium to large tanks
This aquarium filter is a very versatile piece of equipment, combining powerful performance with multi-functional features to create a healthy and vibrant aquatic environment. With a robust flow rate of 1000 litres per hour, it is well-suited for medium to large tanks ranging from 150 to 300 litres, ensuring efficient water circulation and filtration. This filter excels in versatility, offering multiple functions including water pumping, wave making, oxygenating, and water circulation. These features ensure optimal water quality and aeration, catering to the needs of a variety of aquatic species. The included biochemical sponge, activated carbon, and ceramic balls provide a basic yet comprehensive filtration system, effectively removing debris, toxins, and impurities while supporting beneficial bacteria growth for biological filtration.Despite its strong performance, the filter operates relatively quietly, making it ideal for use in spaces where noise might otherwise be a concern. Its adjustable flow rate adds further customization, allowing you to tailor the setup to your specific tank requirements. The build quality is good, with durable materials that withstand continuous use. Installation is easy, and maintenance is straightforward, thanks to the easily accessible filter components. Overall, this aquarium filter is a reliable and efficient choice for fish enthusiasts looking for a multifunctional and powerful solution.

AQQA Fish Tank Filter
Affordable filter with 3x stage filtration...Bio, mechanical and chemical. Sort of a mini canister filter, but with rain bar and aeration. The flow is adjustable too.You could swap out the media for whatever you prefer. Maybe just bio and polishing of the water for instance and forgo the chemical stage unless needed to remove medication or impurties.Use it just as a pump. I like the set for a turtle tank and rainbar. You can shorten this longer unit also I sure. Not the best of materials, but expected.

Its a bit noisy
Rather large filter, took a while for it to get started, started to think it wasn't working. So I would suggest giving it a bit of time to fill first, I did submerge it and have it running to test before attaching it to the tank, but when you attach it to the tank the water drains unless the tank is full when attaching the filter.Takes up quite a large section of the tank, but am hoping the fish don't mind too much. Will see how well it continues to work, and how much the filter media is before I decide to keep it in the tank or not.nice price and would recommend this far
