A retro mechanical delight
Having purchased the numeric keypad the day before I thought the build quality was so good I had to get hold of the actual keyboard. First impressions - great unboxing experience, UK keyboard which has the backslash, hash, at and pound characters in the right place for a software developer in the UK. The mechanical keys are very responsive and comfortable for those who like a "clicky" sounding keyboard.I was a bit worried about the slight hollow noise of the space bar and considered purchasing a silencer pad but after ten minutes I got used to it and it no longer bothers me. Due to the keyboard being quite raised I would recommend using a wrist pad otherwise you might start to feel the strain after a while. The keyboard also comes with a small joystick (you have to connect the handle to the base by pushing them together). There is also a device with two big red buttons which you can customise by adding labels, and there are instructions on how to program the buttons. The only negative I have seen so far is the joystick and buttons have bespoke connectors which must be inserted into the back of the keyboard. It would have been nice if these were USB / USB-C so I could have used them on a different PC.The numpad (purchased separately) is magnetised so it attaches to the side of the keyboard nicely. The keyboard has four large rubber feet and they do a fantastic job of keeping the keyboard firmly in position on a desk.Overall first impressions after two days of use - the keyboard looks fabulously retro, has a great build quality and the keys feel great. I tend to type pretty fast and so far there has been no delay / overtyping using bluetooth. Highly recommended for retro and mechanical keyboard fans.

Great retro style keyboard
It really is great. The switches feel great, has a proper retro feel to it. Great for typing too these tactile switches, probably not what most gamers usually go for, my other keyboard is linear. beware of that when purchasing as it's pretty loud. My new favourite keyboard

A bit of mixed feelings
I was going to give it 4 stars but 8BitDo has such an amazing customer service that I was wondering over by them.THANKS JIMMYI!Cons:Sometimes I have an issue connecting to my pc using the built in Bluetooth. With the dongle and the cable, it is fine. The volume knob is too close to the Bluetooth one.No backlight. So I have to use this only during the day....The volume knob sometimes registers for one click 5%, sometimes 10% change in volume. Inconsistent. The first one, they delivered had a bulge in the middle and as I was typing it was rocking side to side. The replacement arrived the next day.Pros:Very positive typing experience. When you hear the clock, it registers the key you pressed. Every time! The ability to use it wired or wireless.Nice C64 design.Good weight to it.Very high quality feel.I would buy one with at least a backlit keyboard and a small screen on it. But not this one again.

A long awaited disappointment.
I've been waiting for the UK layout of this keyboard for years and sadly it's a disappointment. Let me start with the good bits - it looks awesome, the round LED is a nice touch, 8bitdo captured the C64 looks perfectly. I'm comparing it directly to my Epomaker with tactile switches and the build quality is much worse for a similar price, and doesn't even have a backlight. It feels plasticky, a silicone gasket mount would definitely improve it, the switches sound too tinny, the key caps aren't comfortable at all after 2 days of typing, the tops are too narrow. The keyboard itself is a bit too tall and requires a wrist rest to be comfortable. For a "gaming" keyboard the switches choice is odd, good for typing, but definitely not the best for gaming. The volume knob feels cheap and it's too close to the power switch. My biggest gripe are those large buttons and joystick (poor precision, wobbly, and not even remotely comparable to the old microswitch joysticks I had with my C64)- they are just a gimmick, I can't imagine using them for more than 10 minutes as a novelty, but they clearly took a good chunk of the budget that could've been spent on improving the keyboard. It looks cool in youtube reviews, but I really don't see a point of mapping functions like copy-paste to a button I need to reach for, when I already have them right there under my fingertips. It's so close to be perfect, but misses the mark.

Can be wired or wireless. The choice is yours.
Retro excellence. This keyboard not only looks great but it is just that. Iām very happy with this product. Highly recommended to anyone seeking a high quality vintage looking keyboard. If I could give it six stars I would. šš»

It's amazing
Can't ask for more in a keyboard. Looks, feels and sounds beautiful. Was switched on when I opened the box which was weird but nothing has gone wrong so far.

Brilliant Brown Keyboard!
Absolutely love this keyboard, I've had the number pad for a while but the US layout keyboard would have driven me mad, as soon as the UK ISO layout was announced I ordered one. The switches are nice and it reminds me of a time when computers were brown! Bit of an issue initially setting the software up to program the A and B buttons but just had to plug it in a couple of times to get it recognised. Haven't found a use for the joystick yet
