I decided to try this safe vrs some of the more expensive versions and see how things went. First issue I came across was that I believe I received a returned item. The box seal was already cut and upon opening it appeared that the keys were just hap hazardly tossed in between the foam. There were no instructions included and the normal default code combinations for safes were not working. Luckily the reset button on the bottom of the keypad (accessed by opening the drawer with the key) actually completely reset the codes. With a little trial and error I was able to successfully program both a key code and fingerprint scanner. I was able to store and utilize several prints including my wifes print. The safe seems to lock well and the mounting was fairly simple. Safety note.. this is a safe that is ment to keep little hands or guests away from your firearm. It is definitely not intended to prevent a theif from breaking into it. I have no doubt that someone could pry this open fairly quickly as the metal is thin and there are no anti pry mechanism. Also the mount may be secured with 4 screws but the safe attaches to the mount with two small dog ear clips and one tiny screw. It could very easily be ripped off of whatever surface you mount it to. Overall it seems to be a good way to secure your firearm for immediate access in order to keep it safe from kids or guests but definitely not against an adult determined to get in. All of the previous reviews are from free item reviews so keep that in mind. I will give this 30 days and update with any issues. Got the programming instructions from the seller. Very easy to program with the instructions. After several weeks of daily use all the mechanisms seem to be still working great. Definitely keeps things locked away from little hands.

***UPDATE*** The business reached out and offered a partial refund for the below issue. The quick response of the company to the manufacturing defect was impressive and much appreciated. Due to the company making it right I have amended my rating from an original 2-star rating to 5-stars. ***Original*** Overall this is a pretty good gun "safe". Came with the mounting plate attached to the unit via a thumb screw. Unfortunately I assumed both would be threaded properly. Once I had the plate installed onto my nightstand I struggled to put the security screw in. Turns out the other threaded screw hole was improperly threaded. Since I already had it mounted I had to drill out the threads and use a nut and bolt. Luckily I had access behind the "vault" to do this. Used 10" mending plates (Vertical orientation) and stainless 10-24 bolts with washers and nylock nuts to add some strength on the inside of the nightstand I mounted it on. Set up was easy and it opens quite strongly. If the mounting plate had been properly threaded and held the safe a little tighter on both sides I would have rated this 4 stars
