Do not pass this one up. This one really gets you involved in as little as 200 something pages i found it to be and still is worth its price 10 times over. Why? The exercises in the chapters. The exercises are what can really identify "do you understand this or how you at least come up with the answer?" I find it to be great and would love to see more of this type of content in other brewing books.

Great book
I bought it used. But it is in great condition, only a few black marker scribbles to blackout the name of the library that previously owned it..The book is really well written. Not overly complicated, very friendly and straight forward. It even has little review quizzes. Really informative book on beer process analysis.It's also the textbook for my class.

The other reviews written here are spot on. It really isn't applicable for home brewers but was informative. I also purchased the book knowing it would be of little practical use as a home brewer.I am curious to understand for whom some of the chapters were written, again, speaking as a home brewer. It seemed to me that anyone that has reached a position to be tasked with some of the tests he described should already know very well the lab procedures he describes in a somewhat higher level language. In other words, anyone that needs to know how to do it probably already knows and those that don't won't learn how to do it from this book.The statistics part was great and he gives some good advice as far as not collecting and fussing over data that will never be properly studied. The author obviously knows his subject and has great experience in the field.I do recommend the for those home brewers that enjoy the theoretical side of brewing. For those professionals looking detailed information on the subject, take the author's 5 month class in California!B

Quality is everything!
This very renowned author emphasizes the need for quality assurance above all and I agree totally! Very clearly explained in a very easy way. Great book!!!!

the rest of the book was perfect.
As a quality engineer, the first part of the book (quality issues) was too basic to me. However, the rest of the book was perfect.

Clear cut, as expected. Much more geared toward commercial brewers than home brewers but some principles translate. I bought this as the text book for Dr. Bamforth's practical brewing laboratory class.
