Purchased as a fun present for my dad. The packaging was sturdy - box was small enough for the drum not to rattle around in, and the drum was in a plastic bag, the velvet storage, and a larger plastic bag on top. My drum came with the gold number stickers attached, and there were also black stickers included if I wanted to add them. We didn't use a tuner to check, but all the notes sounded very nice. I read the little booklet and it explained that the tongues can be adjusted by pressing them down (into the drum) to lower a note pitch or press up (out of the drum) to raise it. There is a stopper at the bottom that can be removed for tuning. All listed pieces were accounted for. The little booklet had 12 songs, though I only recognized Twinkle little Star and Mary Had a Little Lamb. Very easy to follow along! Some tips I saw for newbies like me and my dad: 1) The notes are not in "order" around the circle on purpose! This is to play chords easier once you become more advanced. 2) the best sound is if you hit the tongues at the apex of the curve, around the middle of the tongue. If it sounds "tinny" you may just not be striking it in the right spot. We tried hitting in different spots and it really does make a difference - same as finger placement when playing the guitar. 3) Because of the drum size, the highest note (label #1, shortest tongue) is going to be slightly quieter than the rest. Hitting it harder won't make it louder. If you're planning to put on concerts with it and must have that note clarity, get a bigger size. This isn't a defect of the product - don't expect grand piano results from a toy piano!!! 4) regarding how hard to hit, you don't need any more power than you'd use to press on a computer keyboard. The hot placement will be the thing affecting volume the most. Overall I'm glad I made the purchase and am very pleased with the quality and appearance. If I can edit the review, I'll try to add a video later to show how it works.

I was within a second of ordering a drum I've seen advertised that cost nearly 250 bucks. I then checked Amazon and found one for 50 or 60. It sounds great. I've never heard the $250 one, and if it does sound better, I don't care because I'm not a professional.

Great sound for such a little instrument! The fingertip mallets(?) did not work for me, it was harder to get a sound. Very easy to use. The color is perfect for me!:) The storage bag that this great little drum came in is excellent quality!!! Extremely easy and effortless to transport but do with care because THIS IS a tuned instrument. All around sun abs enjoyable instrument to relax with. The reason I have given it only 4 stars is because I did not receive a music book with my drum:(:(:(

This just might be the best possible value and most intuitive path to learn and perform beautiful music! As a life long musician never have I found such a captivating instrument that is so enjoyable and relaxing to play. Be careful you do not become addicted to the soothing meditational intonations that are uplifting and enlighten the surrounding space. The comes with a quality carrying case, finger rings, sticks and a manual to get you started. I have always wanted to have a Hang Drum, but they are so expensive I have resisted my desire to make that purchase. This Tongue Drum offers a much less expensive investment to experience a similar sound. Again, be careful, because now I want the Hang Drum even more to dive deeper into these steel drum arena. I want to incorporate these heavenly sounds to crossover into some of the different genres in my musical production. If you are considering purchasing one of these instruments, just do it! There is no way you could be disappointed in what it will add to your spirit and general well being! God Bless the entire world with the universal healer.....MUSIC! I teach elementary school students with Autism (ASD). My students have many different kinds of sensory needs and I strive to meet as many of them as I can, as often as I can. As a result, I have a very sensory rich and diverse classroom. Twice each week my students, staff, and I sit down on the floor and play various percussion style instruments together. There is no rhyme or reason to it, everyone just plays how and what they would like to play, as long as they are showing respect to the instruments and their classmates. Some play specific melodies, while others just play and bang away. My students absolutely LOVE it! Our classroom music time is a fun, joyous, and liberating activity that we all look forward to and relish participating in each week! i first played a tongue drum at a drum circle (out of curiosity) - fell in love with the sound and look of it, and i ordered one as soon as i got home. i chose this model because it is essentially the same as the one i had played and wanted to start out simple. it comes in such a beautiful carrier with mallets, detailed instructions, songs, labels for notes, etc., carefully packaged for protection. it arrived promptly - and i fell in love with it. the notes are so melodious that i have not yet even bothered to learn a song because regardless of the combination you hit, it always sounds simply beautiful. as well, four brothers is a conscientious business that is concerned for my satisfaction with my drum, which i appreciate. i find myself smiling more since my little drum came into my life. for that reason alone, the best purchase that i have made in a long time. recommend it highly as a gift for others, as well. thank you, four brothers!

Loved this instrument, it was a gift for my niece. She enjoyed it so much. She is now learning to play different songs and at the same time learning music. This came with a bag, so she can take it wherever she needs to.

The quality is there. The packaging was so tight in the box that by accident I bent a tongue in when I leaned on the box by accident, so I bent it back into place without any issue and the sound is perfect. My expectation was for a deeper-sounding drum to be honest, but it seems that the steel drums don't get that much deeper as they get larger. Not deep and bass-ey like I was hoping, at any rate. That said, the sound is excellent, and the products that come packaged up with it are great. The carrying bag is really handy. Takes a bit of practice to get the sounds soft and resonant. I would recommend it.
