PENN Pursuit II Fishing Rod and Spinning Reel Combo

Bought 1 as a gift from my brother. Liked it so I bought one for myself. Pole is a one piece which is not clear in the description. Using mine for pier and beach fishing in SW Florida. This combo easily handles pompano, perch and small sharks (Blacktip & Bonnetheads) up to 2ft long - haven't caught anything bigger yet other than unwanted catfish.Smooth casting and nice action on the pole. I'd say worth the price tag.

Hooked a nice 2# catfish with this rig. Hooked him using turkey skin. Lot of bend for the size of fish, not sure how,it holds up,with heavier catches but hopefully I,will find out.

Rod and reel look perfect and they are except for one thing: the line catches on the open bail during a hard cast and closes it mid-flight, especially if there is any wind from the left. This either results in a very short cast with the bait and weight flying back at you, or the weight snaps the line. The only way to avoid it happening is to rotate the open bail to the left before casting. My reel is wound with 20 lb braid. I don't know if it happens with mono line. It's a real pain.Update: the rod tip broke after several weeks use. Won't buy the combo again.

Great reel, rod broke on 3rd cast. I put the reel on a new rod no problems.

Reel is great I bought it for my brother inlaw. I myself own all penn reels. The rod feels a little cheap but should work for him since he's new to fishing.

It's a great pole for local bass fishing and small salt water fish. You need a heavier rig for the serious stuff, but inshore stuff it works great.

like the penn quality and design. has good casting range with light tackle. have not stressed it yet with saltwater trolling but appears to be up to the task.

Great reel! The rod on the other hand is not great at all. Not sturdy and very cheaply made. I ordered two of them and both rods came broken. There was no packing in the boxes and they were just thrown in there.

Me gusta la caña esta muy bien para pesca al aire libre aunque me falta agarrar yn pes mas grande para probar su resistencia
