You always need to replace female ends...
...because the the thin metal sleeves that hug the pins eventually get loose - always. You want a snug connection, and these are snug. The connector housing is metal, but the strain relief is plastic. Given the low price, that's ok. Good quality.

These are excellent female XLR connectors. We use them at a local club that has live music 5 days a week.The female ends take a beating since so many amateurs attempt to remove the cable from the microphone without pushing the locking tab first. Now the only problem we have is the amateurs not pushing the end in until it clicks when they swap out our mic for their mic hahahaha.

Great value, easy to make up custom length cables using these if one is comfortable with soldering.
Easy to use design. I've used some that require tiny screws that are easy to loose. These are simpler to assemble. Making up custom length cables was a snap, as long as one is comfortable with soldering. Good price.
