Much More Than Merely Carb Conting — This Booklet May Save Lives
Just as have many folks afflicted with Type 2 Diabetes, I have discussed the issue with many doctors, physicians assistants and nutritionists. At each ‘consult,’ I have learned a bit more. I augment that expertise with scores of magazines and hours of web surfing — not enough of this surfing to count as exercise that reduces my triglicerides, but sufficient to keep my brain active. Then, I came across this booklet. “The Pocket Carbohydrate Counter Guide...” was a title that I nearly passed on. I read the other review, whicj I found helpful, and decided to give it a try.As it turns out, this is far more than a mere guide to counting carbs. This is almost as good as having a team of physicians and nutritionists at a town hall, explaining in layman’s language. Its fantastic.I thought I understood much before I read this. The science, perhaps, but not the art. Now, I finally grasp the important interaction of glucose, fructose, triglicerides and brain activity.BOTTOM LINEEven though I am certified as a First Aid CPR Instructor, I gained a good deal of actionable information by reading this handbook.Five stars out of five

Mostly info
I thought this book tended to repeat itself a lot, and kept referring to apps I should get. Though there are parts I liked, I did not find it as useful as I hoped. Rather than include recipes, it wants me to have access to them via other means, and that frustrates me, rather than making it easier. I will use it though, and it was not terribly priced. I think it will depend on the individual as to what they can get from it.

Disappointed
Yet another author who thinks everyone has access to the internet to look up recipes. Information is vague and I was repeatedly referred to sites on the internet. Not available where I live. I can use wifi in the Post Office parking lot but have to leave in 10 minutes (no loitering). This was a waste of my $.

Review
Not an actual carb counting book. Suggests how rather than giving you actual counts of various foods. Very disappointed.

Carbs book for diabetics
Easy to read and easy to follow. I thought I knew everything about carbs but I didn't know everything at all. Good book for diabetics.

Not a carb counting 'Bible'and not really worth reading...
I bought this hoping it was going to offer 'decent' meal planning advice for UK perspective. While I've given it two stars (because I'm already aware of 99.9% of the content in this book), it may be worth more stars to someone else who doesn't read as much as I do? It's not a 'bad' book, just not what I need and it's a bit expensive for what it is.I would say it's worth a few quid at most, as you could easily get the same content from NHS website for free. However author does go to pains to say she's not a medical expert and to listen to your doctor's advice if there's a conflict, which she deserves credit for.
