Great product ... too bad steel cut oats price doubled!
Great taste. Cooks up well on a stove top. I put in pan in the am in water, with a pinch of salt and allow to soak for an hour or so, then cook for @ 30 min on low heat on my induction top, adding water as req. I add raw honey after, fresh bananas and strawberries ... yumm! UPDATE: 11/12/25 - Price dropped back down! Buying 3rd bag ... Great tasting oats, I have not seen rocks, as claimed in other review. The sand texture happens in any bottom of the bag purchase. Sift it out when you get that far into the bag. Mfg COULD pkg with a self sealing bag that has a wide velcro strip on the inside of top to keep bugs out and make bag reusable. I bought an airtight container from Costco to hold the entire contents and transfer a usable amount to a counter top unit. Highly recommend as long as the price stays around $65 or less!

Excellent product. Arrived on time. Great price. Quality product. I would buy again when needed and would recommend to others. I love that’s it’s organic. If you’re looking out for your health, you’ll love this.

Low cost, decent oatmeal, but not as flavorful as imported steel cut oat brands
I bought these hoping that they would be a less expensive substitute for McCann's steel cut oats. The flavor is just not what I was hoping for -- it tastes more like Quaker quick oats. It's perfectly edible, but the fact that they are groats does mean that they have the flavor or thickness that McCann's has. Also, there were several contaminant grains. I removed about 50 non-oatmeal grains while I transferred about 7 pounds of oats to other containers. Despite my initial screening, I still find these errant grains in the oatmeal I prepare on the stovetop.

happy with the purchase. miz it with triticale wheat flour to make naan/rotis
happy with the purchase. mix it with triticale wheat flour to make naan/rotis. rotis are not as malleable after mixing with this flour (it is expected). when made fresh, i and other guests have enjoyed it a lot. at least it feels healthy and tastes great (no idea if scientifically thats true, but certainly hope so). . I have limited skills for making rotis/naan, but I've been doing it for more than 16 years for myself. this flour tastes good. what works for me is 6.5 cups of triticale wheat flour (desi atta) + 2 cups of this flour. YMMV. doesnt work for stuffed paratha , which is not the stated intention of product, i m guessing.

High-quality oats, great price
I eat steel cut oats almost every morning, so for me it is a pleasure to have a bulk bag of it at home rather than having to head to the co-op every week for more. Also, per pound, the price is phenomenal for organic oats (beats even the bulk bins of my co-op). I did have to invest in a large bin with an air-tight lid for storage, but that's not a negative; it just is. These oats are also just a tad darker and richer than most I have tried. I've only had one bag so far, so I'm not sure if that is an individual crop thing or if Great River always has superior oats. Anyway, if you eat a lot of oats and care about the growing practices that created them, give this product a try. I have no regrets.
