Just buy it, it’s awesome.
I LOVE THIS! Feedback addressing all the negative reviews: • the black lines are 100% user error. If you look closely in the tiny mirror preview, it shows black lines if it’s not aligned properly. Adjust accordingly and you’ll be fine. • the size, simplicity, analog design is just so practical and fun. • all black images or leaky images - I’m going to guess either your film is faulty or the shutter didn’t release. I bought film from a store, not online where it may be expired or more likely to be damaged. I push the shutter button until I can hear it release like someone else recommended. I’ve never had an all-black image. • the image quality is full of “character” it will not be clear like a digital print. • the color does take some playing with. If your image is bright or has a lot of white, don’t turn the brightness all the way up. Maybe half way. • I’ve had the best luck running it in a mostly dark room - for ex., with a light turned on in a room next door so I can see, but barely. • the crank to turn the film is a little tricky but works. • again, I love this and think you will too. Best Buy for a printer like this • an advantage over an instax or Polaroid camera is you KNOW the pic you’re printing. Unless you enjoy the mystery.

Great gift - my teen loves it!!
Gave this to my 17 yr old for Christmas and she loves it. She has a Polaroid as well (uses the same printer paper which is nice), but she loves that she can also print Polaroid type pics from her phone. She likes that she doesn't have to take her Polaroid with her everywhere. She can take her pics and then just come home and print. She says it's very easy to use, but does take a little trial and error to ensure the picture prints light enough. Once figured out, she says it's perfect. The only downside is that the film is a little pricey in my opinion. It's a great gift.

Doesn't work
I just received this product and was excited to use it. However, I was receiving some problems and decided to check out some of the reviews, of which some had the same problem: it did not work. I followed the directions, and they were very simple. The first black sheet came out and after that, it seemed as if the photos got stuck. I wasted 4 photos and none of them show anything. It was completely white. Some had ink coming out too. I kept messing with the film because it would not print. I did so by taking the film box out and placed it in again and re-did the spinning of the print button to get the S --> 10 and retaking photos, but it still did not work. When my boyfriend tried to help me, he played with the polaroid after it was printed and ink started coming out. Somehow, he got one of the white photos to show some blue but it was not even close to our photo that we were testing to print. We tried taking the photo in a setting where the phone brightness was up but no light was directly shining at it and another instance where it was completely dark. Some people reviewed about it working for them but this did not work for me at all and I'm greatly disappointed. I would definitely not recommend this product at all. It's probably better to stick to polaroids or save up for pricier products that actually work...

Pretty Good for What It Is.
This is a decent little printer if you don't mind losing a few prints every so often. Overall you get what you pay for. The process is really simple, but kind of finicky. You raise frame, line up your phone, hit the shutter, and crank out your photo. The finicky bits - First off, your phone. It takes a bit to figure out the right brightness for your phone, and the brightness level depends on how light/dark your photo is. There is a fixed, but unknown, shutter speed, so the only thing you can change is the brightness of your phone. I get about the same number of properly exposed photos with this as I do with my instax camera, so not really a huge loss Second, the crank, or more precisely, the knob that should really be a crank. You have to turn it really evenly or else you get lines on the photo where you stopped. If this had an actual crank handle it would make this much easier. As it is, I've found the best way to get an unlined photo is to hold the knob in one hand and rotate the unit instead, as if it was a crank. When you get it right, they are about the same quality as any other instax photo, not super sharp, but decent. Photo advance not catching - I had 1 photo not come out of the box. This happens when the little advance lever misses the edge of the photo and can't push it forward into the rollers. The fix I used was to open the back and push the top exposed photo forward pull it out by hand, then put the film cartrige back into the box and crank out the next photo. This ruined the first photo, and the one below it. In hindsight I probably could have gone into a dark room(bathroom with the light out, closet, whatever) and moved the top photo a bit to get it to catch, and not lost either photo, but it hasn't happened since, so I haven't tried it yet.

Quality is not the best but product good
So I think this is a cool concept. It’s very simple to use and I had no problems getting the images to come out. The reason I am returning the product is the quality isn’t to my liking. Since you’re taking a picture of a picture, there is some “pizzazz” and quality lost in the final product. I think this would be a perfect gift for a young kid but for me I’m looking for better quality photos. I only used this product for three consecutive hours (so take this review as just that) and spent 17 film trying to figure out what works best to get the best images. Of those I have about 7 good ones, 3-4 okay ones and the rest I’ll be shredding. I tried to do a range of photos with different printing techniques (completely dark room, all lights on, shutter with lights off then print with lights on, keeping wings open during printing, keeping wings closed during printing). I only had a ~40% success rate. Someone who is less critical might really enjoy this product! Even playing with the brightness did not make a difference on some pictures. I conclude that it’s a hit or miss for quality. I would argue that the longer you play with it, the better your images will come out. I also think that a phone with really good camera will produce good polaroids (I am using a iPhone 6s). Attached are some of my better images with the originals I scanned. One thing to note is I had a rough time printing some pictures of myself (African American woman, medium skin color not dark skinned just avg). The only images of me that came out well were the ones in full, blaring sunlight. The others came out very dark and I could not recognize my facial features :( Not much else to say in this short time I’ve used it. No defects. Works well for its price and mechanism/method of functioning. Quality was my main issue here. Some of them (like the Zayn one) turned out well. Others did not show up as well as I would’ve liked (like the outdoor cabin one).

Most Amazing Product EVER!
I've always been impressed with Tomy products - whether it's toys, baby products, novelties or electronics - they are always so ingenious and creative! The KiiPix is no exception and I'm here to tell you that this product is as brilliant as it is simple to use. KiiPix, simply put, is a camera that takes pictures of your smartphone photos - and creates instant prints of them! Using Fuji's Instax film (sold separately), all you have to do is load the film, set up fold-away stand and place your smartphone face down on it. With your selected picture already on display on your screen, all you need to do is push down on the button and then use the dispensing knob to roll out the print.vAny picture you have on your smartphone, you can turn into a print - in seconds and inexpensively! This is just so easy to use and the quality of the prints is just as good as the old-style Polariod type instant film from way back. What makes it even better is that you can spend your time taking and finding the perfect pix on your smartphone to turn into prints, and then ONLY print out the phones you want. There's no wasting of instant film trying to use a regular camera to take pix - you already have the perfect pix on your phone! So smart, so incredibly to use! I've been waiting for this to come out here in America for almost a year (it was available in Tomy's native Japan last November) at more affordable prices, and finally it's here! It comes in 3 different colors and folds compact after use so you can carry it along with you! It needs no electricity, no batteries and no wifi to work. It's just that simple! Most of other "printers" spit out cheap photo-print shots, but the cost of those is much, much higher and the pix end up feeling flimsy. The KiiPix solves all of that by partnering with another inventive and creative partner, Fuji! I highly recommend this for you, your tween/teenage kids - it even makes a great wedding reception activity for the guests - all you have to do is try it!

Hands down best value instax printer on the market
I'm not the type of person to leave tons of reviews, but I can't help but share the love for this product. Such great value considering how well it works and how great it is that you don't need to charge it or deal with bluetooth connection on your phone. Such a simple, straightforward "low tech" design that brings you pretty much the same thing as the "high tech" $80-$140 phone printers from HP, Canon, Fujifilm, and Kodak. I've been wanting a phone printer cuz I could never justify buying an instax camera when I already carry a standard digital camera with me most days (I shoot with a fujifilm xt20) and I already have an iphone... So... this thing truly suited my needs perfectly. Perhaps the higher end printers will give more vibrant colors, but I'm pretty happy with mine and I haven't had any of the problems like having the photo come out all black. The rolling effect does come through ever so slightly, but that doesn't bother all that much. I think it adds to the charm of the photo. Anyway, I can't say enough good things about this product and how happy I am with it. If you're eyeing it, definitely grab it! It's worth every cent. Be sure to align your phone screen properly with the given frame so that you don't get funny borders on your picture. The frame is designed to sit on top of the printer in a flushed position, so if it's off, that could also affect how the printer comes out. I'm honestly so happy with this little printer, and I can't wait to take it with me while traveling and share polaroids with friends and fam on visits, as well as just have little polaroids I can put into my bullet journal now. The photos were printed in slightly dim room light and my iphone screen was at its brightest! Hope these tips help. Have fun!

Know what you’re getting
For the price, this little printer gets 5 stars. If you want instax pics but you don’t want to carry around an instax camera, this is a great option. BUT you need to know what you’re getting. 1. You are taking a photograph of a digital photograph from your phone, so the pictures are not going to look like what is on the box. If you’ve ever seen instax pics, you already know this. 2. There is a learning curve. Expect to throw out a few pics for user error. If you’ve ever loaded film in a camera, that part is easy; the instructions are clear. However, placing your phone in the right spot is tricky and takes practice. Don’t expect your first pics to be perfectly aligned. 3. Only use the best high-def digital pics you have. There will be some definition lost because you are taking a picture of a picture. If it is blurry at all, it won’t turn out well. If you buy a box of four or more 10-packs of film, you’ll pay under a dollar a piece, plus the cost of the printer. For me, it was worth the cost of about three poorly framed pics to figure out how to align my phone the best. I think this option is better than regular photo printers because there’s not a huge investment in printer, ink, and photo paper to get started with few cool poleroid pics. They also look super cute pasted in art journals, traded with friends, and posted on bulletin boards.
