Q: Can I open the bottle?

I don’t think so, based on the construction of the sprayer. I am unable to, just gently trying. I think if you forced it, it would break.

Q: This is crazy expensive. Can you just buy the refill as half the price per ounce and put in a generic continuous spray bottle?

Yes. I initially bought the sprayer and went to buy another one and then found the refill so I purchased this to refill the initial bottle. I also have put it in small reusable bottle to travel with and one at my desk. This is great stuff and the way the bottle sprays is really cool, but it is not a must.

Q: Does this work well if I let my hair air dry without a hair dryer?

It works well with my daughters hair. She doesn't use a hair dryer
