Top Gear Polar Special

Just to clarify to everyone because it was a worry for me: This Blu-ray is REGION FREE. It will play on ANY BLU RAY disc player. And if you are a fan of the show, please please please, do yourself a solid and pick this up because the extra footage (about 10 minutes) and the high definition picture are absolutely worth it. I first saw this episode 3 years ago and this was like watching a brand new special. I cannot recommend this highly enough.

I had to buy this separately to complete my set of Top Gear episodes and I don't regret it. This adventure was one of their most daring and interesting and I really enjoyed watching it in the full version that had so much more than what was shown in the 1 hour spot on BBC America.If you like Top Gear you have to see this.

This DVD really is Blu-Ray. Crystal clear picture, a few extra bits included & region free. It is a joy to watch. I would also say the firm who sold it are very good too: It arrived before Amazon claimed it had shipped. I shall buy more from them, with no doubt. Of course, more of that edition of Top Gear would nice too.

Good and funny as always, although this blueray disk would not play on older blueray machines

Top Gear is a great show and this special one of their best. The comic timing and interplay of the hosts make Top Gear fun for car nuts and those who just enjoy British humor. Think of it as Mythbuster with a little Monty Phython mixed in.

This is an older episode, but a classic. I think it was far better than the Vietnam show, but not quite as interesting as the Botswana special. A must have for any and all fans of Hammond, May, and Clarkson.

Way to much money for a great show, one episode with a few special features. Not worth it at this price... Wait for it to go down in price, then pick this up.

Bien emballé empaqueté avec d'autres Blu Ray dans le carton spécifique DVD.Il s'agit, pour ceux qui connaissent, de l'annuel "Special".Cette fois-ci, les trois compères se sont rendu là ou aucun autre homme ne s'étais précédemment rendu.. en 4X4.Il faut déjà avoir vu la version éditée pour la BBC (parfois rediffusé sur RMC Découverte) pour se rendre compte des scènes inédites présentes sur ce Blu Ray.Il s'agit principalement de scènes inédites lors de la préparation ou même de certaines découvertes durant le périple.J'y vois un plus (+).Il est le premier Blu-Ray Top Gear donc réellement filmé en 1080p.Je confirme qu'il est lisible avec n'importe quel lecteur Blu-Ray Français ou Européen.J'ai pu lire que certains commentaires décriaient l'illisibilité du DVD mais il ne s'agit que de nos chers amis américains qui, croyant tout savoir sur tout, oublient parfois la question du "zoning" des médias.Blu-Ray en Anglais par contre !

I've already watched this particular Top Gear Special a number of times on DVD (including at 1080i, using a good upscaling player) and have always been impressed by the quality of the picture. I expected this blu-ray edition to be somewhat better than the DVD, but the difference is nothing less than remarkable: the image quality at 1080P is truly spectacular, with an amazing level of detail, far exceeding any of my expectations.The programme itself is one of the Top Gear team's best efforts, and you can see why it was chosen to be their first blu-ray release. My only criticism would be that, whilst this is an extended version of the programme that was originally broadcast, there's nothing in the way of "extras" on this disc (as was the case with the DVD release). Given that the show itself is about 70 minutes in length, this doesn't really represent the best use of the format, or very good value, for that matter. All the same, it's still a superbly entertaining film and an excellent representation of what blu-ray is capable of.Let's hope the BBC doesn't waste any time in releasing more of Clarkson, Hammond and May's adventures in this format!
