Quality flashlight. Worth every cent.
The light goes on when switched on and off when switched off. No shaking or jarring is needed to get a strong light. When the rechargeable battery looses its charge, I pop in the AA battery pack while the rechargeable battery is charging. Therefore, I am never without a bright flashlight. Both the focused and wide beams provide ample light.

Five Stars
Good quality, rugged, work light. It can definitely take a beating and still run good. I liked it so much that I had to buy a second light.

Buy the rechargeable version
As a prior US ARMY infantry soldier, security agent, first responder and hiker I have used and tested a lot of gear. I have extensively tested lights and other equipment for decades. In fact some people say I was the original Nutnfancy.. Let's get to the facts: Coast makes one of the least expensive high quality lights available. It is rubber covered and has a good girth.. just ask your mom. What i do like about it is this one is not rechargeable and I wouldnt have ordered it I knew that. The older version came with a cartridge that could be removed and charged by USB cable. This one isn't that way. It also didn't come with a red handle. It was all black, just like your dad. But yes I would recommend it over some others but do yourself a huge favor and find the rechargeable version.

Love the 3 way brightness.
What I found excellent is the amount of light you can get across a wide range. What was terrible was the fact there were cheap batteries (which is why we switched them out for rechargeable ones). This greatly helped. No need to throw the bathtub out with the bathwater. This is why I gave the brightness a four star instead of a five. Once you switch to better batteries....it will work great!

Brightness
Bright but not as bright as the smaller brand they offer.

sweet RECHARGEABLE light
Im a fan of Coast flashlights. I have owned many over the years even before they used a Single LED back in the day they used multiple LEDs with no focus. My only disappointment. is there is no SOS or strobe features like in cheaper flashlights.

Not as good as they use to be.
Have owned several Coast lights, this is the first one to stop working after 35 days. Works in flood mode but not in beam. Looks like the quality is slipping. Sent Coast an email and replacing it at no cost, was quick to make it right. Will buy more of their products.

Coast Flashlights
This is my second flashlight from coast. I bought my first pocket flashlight from them and was super impressed. So far the flashlight feels good in the hand and the charge time wasn't bad though you do have to take out the battery to charge it which is slightly annoying. I'll update after a couple more months of shop abuse.
