This doesnt fit my 2008 gmc sierra. does it need a step down adapter to fit threads?

It should’ve came with the adapters to make it fit your truck it comes with a couple of them that are different thread sizes

Will this fit a 2020 Silverado 3500HD ?

It comes with two adapters and yes, it did fit my 2020 Silverado 1500..... You will lose some reception, but I find it worth NOT having that whip antenna and it looks Bad Ass!
