Q: My mattress is already covered by a mattress encasement. should i spray it on the encasement or should i take the mattress out and then spray on it?

Absolutely not - neither of those options is good. If you open the mattress cover, you are potentially re-introducing bugs into the room. Also, it is not indicated for human contact and will cause profound irritation which can progress to hives. You're looking at the wrong product - applying it to any part of furniture you touch may cause that furniture to cause a rash every time you use it. As long as there are no holes in the encasement, keep it closed for 16 months and starve them to death. If you're feeling adventurous you could throw a nuvan test strip into it and re-zip, but it affects humans as well. You're not supposed to be anywhere near one of those things, but it does have a reversible action and you could remove it if you start feeling sick.This stuff is for use where they are hiding and living - cracks, seam between carpet and wall, inside joints of bed posts, insides of curtain rods, etc. Don't use it on electronics either. Read Bayer's labeling and instructions before you use it.Credentials: Pharm.D, RPh, and recovering victim of a 6 month infestation

Good spray when it sprays. Shake the can before using. It helped a little but didnt buy this again due to the leaking of the product.
