Built for the Long Haul - Dependable, Lightweight, and Smooth Rolling
As someone who travels constantly, luggage durability and maneuverability are non-negotiable. I purchased two in shadow grey, and after multiple trips, I’m happy to say they’ve held up beautifully. Pros: • Lightweight but tough: Despite the hardshell design, the case feels incredibly light, making packing - and more importantly, hauling through crowded airports - so much easier. No dents or cracks so far, even after some very obvious rough handling by baggage crews. • Glides like a dream: The 8 spinner wheels are legitimately some of the smoothest I’ve ever used. Even when fully packed, it rolls effortlessly and doesn’t tip over. • Expandable and roomy: The interior has great capacity for its size, and the expandable zipper gives you just enough extra space when you overpack (guilty). The zippered divider and compression straps also help keep everything in place. • Built-in TSA lock: Super convenient. It saves time and offers peace of mind, especially when checking your bags in unfamiliar places. • Sleek look: The Shadow Grey is understated and professional - easy to spot on the carousel without screaming “tourist.” Bottom line: Whether you’re a business traveler, a digital nomad, or just someone sick of flimsy luggage that falls apart mid-trip, this is a worthwhile investment. I trust it enough to have bought two - and wouldn’t hesitate to get a third if needed.

Functional. Durable. Lightweight.
You get what you pay for and this is good luggage. I’m a former airline crew member with 20 years in the business and having quality luggage was a must. TravelPro always has great functionality and durability. This bag has enough capacity for a week or more trip. It has two large zippered compartments which hold things in place. It’s very light and still solid. I’ve occasionally tried other brands but I keep coming back to this brand because it works well and holds up well.

TravelPro never disappoints — now I’m hooked on the hardshell
I’ve used the softside TravelPro bags for years and finally upgraded to the Maxlite Air V2 hardside, and I’m so glad I did. It’s super lightweight, glides effortlessly with the 8 spinner wheels, and feels really durable. The hardshell makes a huge difference for packing structure and protection, but if you care about keeping it looking pristine, I’d definitely recommend getting a luggage cover — it does scratch easily. Still, it's amazing quality and has totally earned my loyalty. I’m a TravelPro user for life!

solid recommendation for a non-monstrous checked bag
After decades of using lightweight softside suitcases and liking the Travelpro MaxLite 5 and Platinum Elite, I recently experimented with hardside versions. After a panic purchase of a cheap hardside to replace an ancient battered bag with a torn zipper, I decided to look into better quality brands. For a carry-on, even a cheap hardside bag offers nice protection and lets you squish in some heavier items without bulging beyond the dimension limits. (Although in the US, I find very few carry-on bags are actually measured, and people really push well beyond the limits!) This is my first try at a hardside checked bag, sticking with a proven and familiar name brand. After one trip on the books there are many scuffs, some showing oddly as white, but no dents, so overall it held up OK. I don't expect any bag to be pristine after the gorillas get done handling them. No issues with the zippers (though I agree they are not really top quality and sometimes were a bit balky to latch in the lock). The trend of losing interior space for the handle is irritating; some brands do a much better job of minimizing that intrusion, not this Travelpro. The sculpted part that allows the handles to collapse take up a bit more room than expected. But all in all the clamshell case offers good protection, and the two zippered compartments do a good job at securing things and providing separation. I didn't need to expand the bag but it's nice to know it can be enlarged to the maximum dimension for a checked bag if needed. I liked the balanced proportions without the expansion and the wheels were smooth rolling. For the price (color selected was based on lowest available price, not personal preference), it seems OK, not a bargain, but time will tell if it holds up to the Travelpro reputation. (The slate green is pretty bland, but doesn't stand out as being too flashy or too 'normal' and was fairly easy to spot in the baggage conveyor.) One note -- the weight shown did not agree with my scale which showed 9.2 lbs. Not quite the lightweight it's advertised as, but not objectionable. Knocked ½ star due to the immediate scuffing and the falsely advertised weight. But otherwise a solid recommendation for a non-monstrous checked bag.

I am a retired luggage designer, so I am really picky about my bags.
This is my first 4-wheel carryon, after many years of great soft-sided 2-wheelers. PROS: it holds as much as my similar-sized 2 wheelers, even when not expanded, partly because the hard sides allow more compression of the contents. I think it will fit in international overhead bins even when expanded. It rolls beautifully on a variety of surfaces. I had to run a long way to catch a connecting flight, and it was much easier to move than a 2-wheeler would have been. The strap on my backpack slipped over the handle and the carryon stayed upright perfectly. The interior flaps fold to the outside, so they are not in the way when I was packing it. Its appearance is professional and expresses quality. It weighs the same as many light weight soft wide bags. It feels durable. -I haven't checked it so I don't know how it would take being thrown around by luggage handlers. The handle has several height positions, and is long enough for my 6'-4" partner to pull easily. CONS: These are minor. You have to open the entire bag in order to put anything in or take anything out. I'm used to being able to zip open a flap or an exterior pocket to do that. The bars on the back that hold the handle tubes take a lot of interior space. It would have been good if they were flatter and wider. Overall, YES, I would recommend this bag.

Secure and durable
Excellent. The lock mechanism was tricky. Make sure you toggle the lock to release for the latch to open.
