Auto start windup feature DOES NOT I tried many times. I had an early version of this gyro over 20 years ago. The trick to for an easy start is to get a piece of cardboard and drag the gyro over it in a rapid motion to get the spin started fast enough to be able to continue the spinning with a slight twisting your hand at the wrist to keep it going.

I use this item at least once or more a day and found a lot of benefits from its use

The Gyro Balls work very well and I am pleased with them. However, the Amazon packaging was dismal, just a heavy brown paper packaging , allowing both of the electronic information centers to be damaged upon arrival (see picture). The damage was bad enough to make the screens unusable. Very very disappointing.
