As a new parent, the Ubbi Steel Diaper Pail has been one of my best baby gear purchases. After researching multiple diaper pails, I'm so glad I chose this one. No Special Refills - Thank God! This is THE biggest selling point for me. Unlike other popular diaper pails that force you to buy their expensive proprietary refill cartridges, the Ubbi uses any standard 13-gallon trash bag. This saves so much money in the long run! I was shocked when I learned how much those special refills cost for other brands - it's essentially a subscription tax on parents. With the Ubbi, I can buy whatever trash bags are on sale or in bulk, and I'm not locked into one brand's ecosystem. This feature alone makes it worth every penny. Odor Control: The steel construction and rubber seals do an excellent job containing odors. Even with multiple dirty diapers sitting in there, I don't smell anything unless I open the lid. The sliding lid mechanism creates a tight seal that really works. Our nursery stays fresh, which is especially important since we spend so much time in there. Steel Construction: The powder-coated steel is sturdy and doesn't absorb odors like plastic pails do. It feels substantial and well-built - not like a cheap plastic bin that will crack or retain smells over time. I can tell this will last through multiple children. Easy to Use: The sliding lid is intuitive and can be operated with one hand, which is crucial when you're holding a squirming baby. You don't need to step on a pedal or wrestle with a complicated mechanism. Just slide it open, drop the diaper in, and slide it closed. Child Lock: The child-proof lock on the sliding lid is a great safety feature. It's easy enough for adults to operate but prevents curious toddlers from getting into it. Capacity: Holds plenty of diapers before needing to be emptied. With a newborn, we empty it every 2-3 days, which is very reasonable. Easy to Clean: The steel interior wipes down easily and doesn't retain stains or smells. Much better than plastic in this regard. Design: The modern, sleek design looks good in the nursery. It doesn't scream "diaper pail" and comes in various colors to match your décor. Cost-Effectiveness: While the upfront cost is higher than some plastic pails, the savings on bags more than makes up for it. Not being forced to buy expensive refill cartridges means this pays for itself quickly. Plus, the durability means you won't need to replace it. Très belle note générale dans les avis mais en pratique, nul! Odeurs horribles qui se dégagent des que l’on ouvre le clapet. Le couvercle n’est pas hermétique. Pour le prix, hyper déçu!

The cost up front of this nappy pail is high, no doubt. However, after doing some sums I realised that this was actually much better value than the other nappy bins that twist and package each nappy. Firstly, this looks great and is very well constructed and feels quality. It’s easy to clean, and spray disinfectant spray in it when I change the bag. Secondly, you can use your own bin bag, which over time you will be using this (years!) will save a lot of money in comparison to competitor I mentioned earlier. The refills for those are very expensive. Thirdly, it does it’s job VERY well. Our boy is breastfed and is 10 weeks old now. We can fill this with days worth of nappies and it doesn’t smell at all. I actually cannot believe it. We wrap dirty nappies and wipes in a bag and then put them in this pail. We change it every few days, when it is full. When you have so much to do as a new parent, you just want things that work. We are not extravagant parents, we have literally only bought this and a baby carrier new and everything else has been second hand. Although it may feel counter intuitive to spend so much money on what is essentially just a bin, it really is worth it due to the performance.
