I don't care what those "experts" say, it delayed my period for 10 days. And I'm not going to take it anymore no matter how it is recommended for all child-bearing age women. I took it from a couple of days before my expected period, and when my period didn't come, I thought I might be pregnant so I took it more seriously. Then it turns out it was just the folic acid. I know it because my period came the second day I stopped taking this. "Experts" might say that my anxiety about being pregnant delayed my period. I suggest somebody doing an experiment, find some twins, give one folic acid, the other one candy, let both think they are taking folic acid. I wonder if anyone have done this kind of experiment, but the information you can find on the internet about folic acid, pregnancy, and delayed period are just frustrating. It either gives people who want a child false hope: "folic acid doesn't delay your period, you must be pregnant." or unnecessarily scares people :"folic acid doesn't delay your period, your period must be messed up, go see a doctor." We need actual facts. The fact is I am not pregnant and my always regular period is delayed 10 days when I started taking folic acid, and I got my period right after stopping the intake of folic acid.

I had to take 4MG of folic acid a day during my pregnancy. Yes, that was 4MG, not MCG.That means I was popping 10 of these a day every day while I was pregnant. I bought my first bottle at the drug store by my house when I filled my prenatal vitamins. I realized, at the price I was paying at the pharmacy, having to take 10 of these a day was going to cost a lot of money. So I went to my trusted source for everything and ordered these from Amazon. They obviously worked well. I had a very healthy baby in light of all of the complications my pregnancy presented. With that being said, they weren't perfect. They were kind of hard to swallow and I found myself having to choke them down at times. Not a very good thing when you have to take 10 of something each and every day. However, to me the savings was worth the discomfort. I wish they had been easier to swallow, but they were priced right and got the job done.

So yes, I did purchase this because I am pregnant and need the discount this comes with for my long list of vitamins. The 3 pack pricing is really good considering I paid this amount for one bottle at my local grocery store (a chain). However I read up on everything I put in my body and I learned that Folic Acid can also help with depression, thinning hair and nails and bowel issues. Really? All the more reason for me to want to continue on after I give birth. For those postpartum mothers: you know the hair loss after birthing your child as well as the mood swings from the hormonal shift. Keeping up with the Folate (folic acid) even after giving birth can help with this. What can it hurt? I will update if I see any noticeable changes in my mood, and overall well being. I did reduce a star because it melts far too quickly - but I just had to have my water in my hand ready to sip the second I pop the pill in my mouth. Wish a coating would be added to the pill. But till then - just get your water ready first. To avoid the dusty, chalky feeling in the back of your throat.
