Is the paper smooth? I want to use brush pens on it.

Quite smooth. While I have little experience using these notebooks with brush pens, I find that stiff-nibbed fountain pens glide across the paper with ease.

Are the notebooks lined AND dotted?

They seem to be just lined. At least mine were

They will last a long time but not the whole year if used alot
