Can the led lights be turned off? i know this question has been asked before, but the answer was entirely unsatisfactory. any help?

I just checked mine & it looks like the only way to turn the LED lights off is to turn the fans off (there's a knob that you turn which shuts them both off at the same time). When you put your laptop on top of the device, you can hardly see the lights underneath the laptop. I don't find it to be any problem.
