Great idea! Durable and functional with easy installation and improved peace of mind!
We installed these over our newly rebuilt front stairway right before the winter season and they worked out really well in the light snow and ice that we get occasionally in the PNW, not to mention the constant rain that makes the painted wood slippery. The installation over wood stairs was really easy and solid, but with 7 steps to cover, the cost was a bit steep. Of course the peace of mind for improved safety for the kids, grandparents and visitors is really worth it. The nosing design should also slow down the wear and tear on the steps and reduce the overall upkeep as the original wood steps showed extreme wear on the edges. We got the black version which came with matching hardware, but one of the packages was missing the screws. There are 9 screw holes available for installation, but I found that each could be quite secure with about 6 or so screws, so there was enough hardware for the entire project. The treads themselves are made of rigid, thick aluminum with pencil-eraser sized raised bumps, a grippy edge and textured powder coated paint. They measure 29 3/4" long, 2 3/4" wide across the top and with a 1" lower lip. They were all uniform in appearance and measurements. After a few weeks of use, there's no evidence of wear on the treads, but only time will tell how the powder coated finish stands up to time and nature. I sure hope this these will last the life of the stairs. The only thing to note is that the stair edge provides a great grip with some raised metal projections, but if you stumble going up the stairs, as my toddler has done on a few occasions, you may find your shins painfully banged up by that hard metal edge.Overall, I am happy with the product and the improved security of the stairs.

Adds Safety and Attractiveness!
Added needed safety to my weathered steps. Very sturdy and protects the edge of the step while providing a very sure grip. Easy to install and attractive. I like the few I purchased that I purchased more to add to another set of steps.

Everything I was hoping they'd be
I live in a wet area, and I have pressure treated wood steps...14 of them to the main entrance to the house. Contractors, delivery people and general use start to erode the wood. And when it's dark, it's harder to see the edge of each step, and the edges can get slick...obviously why I was looking for something like this. These were the best things I found, and I'm glad I bought them every time I use the stairs. Installation wasn't too bad...cordless screwdriver/drill and a tape measure to make them even. Had them on for a couple weeks. I'll add an edit if anything changes.

Very solid
I put these on a dangerously steep wooden stairway to a utility room, but I had to modify them. The tabs that stick up where the right-angle bend is, make them a human cheese grater if someone slips. The aluminum is ductile and I hammered them down after installation, minimizing that risk. However, before installing them, file or 'deburr' the tabs a bit to eliminate sharp edges. These are solid enuf for industrial use, they could be a little thinner for residential use.

Fantastic
These will save my rear from falling every year. I used my own screws though. Well worth the money.

Works on a composite deck just fine.
Used on a composite porch that had a PVC trim board as the step edge. All screws were with both units I got and no damage. Pre drilled in to composite deck top and PVC trim face. Hand screwed in. Easy. Looks good and should last longer than me.

Perfect edge protector
I bought this item because I wanted to protect the concrete slab edge on my detached 25x25ft garage. My slab edge sits about 2 inches higher than the driveway. Therefore I was afraid that the heavy traffic of driving in and out of the garage will slowly chip away at the concrete.Anyhow, this product was exactly what I needed. It works perfectly and even helps with tractions.I hope that you find this review useful

What do you do when a 250lb mail carrier is destroying your wooden stairs?!
You purchase these as a first line of defense. We also used water heater strapping but these are heavy duty construction that will last a long time! Easy to screw in. Look great … so much so I want some for the back stairs even though they don't need them. These will definitely keep the big boy who can't pick up this feet from destroying the stairs!
