Reliable and Versatile Luggage Scale
I've been using the Etekcity Luggage Scale for several years now, and it has proven to be an invaluable tool not just for travel but for everyday use around the house. The primary function, weighing luggage, has never let me down; it's accurate and easy to use, ensuring I meet airline weight limits without any surprises at check-in. Beyond its intended purpose, I've found this scale surprisingly useful for other tasks. For instance, before hanging items on walls, I use it to check their weight to ensure my hardware can support them, avoiding potential accidents or damage. Its durability is commendable; after years of use, it still functions as well as it did on day one. This reliability prompted me to purchase additional units for family members and to keep one at a frequently visited destination, ensuring we're always prepared for travel. The scale is straightforward to operate, with a clear display that makes reading the weight easy, even in less than ideal lighting conditions. Its compact size means it's easy to pack or store when not in use, which adds to its convenience. Overall, the Etekcity Luggage Scale is a practical, multi-purpose tool that I highly recommend. Whether you're a frequent traveler or just need a reliable way to measure weights for various household tasks, this scale does the job excellently. It's definitely worth the investment.

Decent luggage scale but hard to use on taller, heavy items if you're short-ish
I bought this scale to help prepare for international travel to see family for three weeks, which meant I had a lot of items to take for them and a lot of clothes. I knew luggage weight was going to be an issue. I wanted to have something that would give me a decent ballpark measurement so that I could make adjustments of what to pack and how to pack as needed. After reading other mixed reviews regarding accuracy, I decided to give myself about a 4 to 5-pound wiggle room in the event the scales at the airport disagreed with the weight on this scale. I had two very large, tall bags to check-in and resigned myself to the notion that I would have to pay the extra fee for at least one of them to be over the free weight allowance. This scale was very helpful under those circumstances. The accuracy was decent -- about a pound or two different, but, again, I've been caught before having overweight bags at the airline counter and have since followed the rule of thumb not to max out the free weight allowance before going to the airport. I just never know how the scales at the different airline counters may be calibrated and also, items shifting in the bag can affect the weight distribution. Like all luggage scales with this design, I did have difficulty lifting the big, tall heavy bags high enough, steady enough and long enough to get a good reading for the weight. There is a strap that connects around the luggage handle and attaches to a hook under the scale. One thing that might help for those of us who are 5'5" or shorter is to have a bit shorter strap option so that the luggage does not hang quite as low beneath the scale. In order to get enough height over the bag in order to be able to lift up 62 pounds and hold it long enough for the bag to settle down and get a good reading, I had to find something to stand on. I tried the bottom step of our stairs, but it was not quite high enough and required me to lean forward which was both awkward and uncomfortable. I eventually resorted to a small but solid step ladder braced against a cabinet, and was able to lift the heavy bags straight up so as not to risk falling. I think if I were taller by another 6 inches, it probably would have been a little easier and less awkward. As I'm pretty confident there are no more growth spurts in my future, hopefully the manufacturer will reconsider the strap length and offer a shorter strap alternative. (Of course, only later did I feel a bit silly for not thinking of wrapping the strap around the luggage handle a couple of times to shorten the distance between the scale and the bag to reduce how high I needed to lift the bags -- if that would work.) For medium-sized (at least in terms of height) or smaller items, the scale was easy to use. One of the airlines I was traveling on sometimes weighss carry-on bags, so I weighed the backpack I was taking which weighed about 17-18 pounds. Because the backpack is much shorter, I had no issues lifting it high enough, long enough and steady enough to get a good reading. The display on the scale was easy to read, and easy to change between pounds and kilograms. I took the scale with me for the return trip and, to save the battery, just removed it from the scale and kept it in the same luggage compartment with the scale. I had no issues with battery life. I had to weigh and re-weigh the bags many times, and there did not seem to be a significant drain on the battery as far as I could tell. All in all, it's a decent scale, but just allow some wiggle room and, if you're 5'5" or shorter with tall, heavy bags, try wrapping the strap around the luggage handle a couple of times or recruit someone taller to help you.

Does what is expected
functions and easy to use. It does not take up a lot of space, or add too much weight. Good to have in case you are worried about your checked bag being overweight.

Accurate and indispensable for travel!
I have bought several of these over the years. They are indispensible, a real must-have whenever you're flying anywhere. These days, when airlines are sticklers for weights and measurements, they come in super handy, helping you make sure you're not going overweight. (I can stuff a carry-on like nobody's business, and it's nice to know exactly how much the bag weighs). These are accurate and will always work, despite the fact that my peabrain can't figure out exactly how!
