Tried this Clairol Natural Instincts hair color and was pleasantly surprised. The formula didn’t irritate my scalp at all, which is a big deal for me since I’ve had reactions with other brands. There’s no strong or weird smell during application and it’s comforting to know there are no harsh chemicals. The color itself is rich and lasted way longer than I expected for a demi-permanent dye.

I love the natural instinct hair colors. It really works in 20 minutes even on dark hair, there is no smell at all cause is very natural, so it does not harm people like me that suffer from sinus and other allergies. Until now, Natural Instinct is the only hair color that is safe to use for me. Plus the conditioner, wow, I just love it. Smells soft and nice and leaves your hair soft, smooth and very shiny. Love all of it.

Update*** Okay, I’m officially confused in the best way possible. This is a demi-permanent that’s supposed to fade gracefully in 28 washes… yet here I am, six weeks later, still rocking rich, shiny 3 Brown Black hair that looks like I just stepped out of the salon yesterday. My actual permanent dyes from big-name brands have never shown this kind of stamina! The whole experience feels like hair color with a conscience: *Zero ammonia smell (my bathroom didn’t smell like a swimming pool, hallelujah) *The coconut oil and aloe actually make my hair feel softer and healthier than before I colored it. *Super easy 20-minute application (I did it while watching Netflix with a glass of wine, living my best life) *PRO TIP: I will say that I threw on a shower cap because a pro I know recommended using one to get the color to really stick. *Covered my stubborn grays on the FIRST try without turning them brassy Bonus points: the color is this gorgeous natural-looking deep brown-black that catches the light beautifully! I’ve gotten more compliments in the last month than I did all year with my old “permanent” dye. Clairol, what kind of sorcery is this? Whatever it is, keep doing it. You’ve converted a lifelong permanent-dye loyalist to the demi-permanent side. My hair (and my nose) thank you! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend if you want gorgeous color that’s gentler on your hair and somehow refuses to quit!

My grey hair hadn't bothered me much when I was first turning grey. I thought it was an awesome right of passage as I aged. Then one day I curled my hair with a flat iron and all my grey showed as I turned the curls out (the top layer of my hair hadn't turned white yet, it's mostly black with a few greys) most of the white and grey showed underneath. Suffice to say, it made me look old. I thought about coloring it at a salon but just can't swallow $100 a month for hair care if I wanted to maintain it. A pro colorist did a short on YouTube about demi-permanent hair color that eventually washes out and I was intrigued. In steps Clairol Natural Instincts. I got the Brown Black and it's PERFECT for my hair. My hair is mainly black underneath, but the sun causes my hair to have reddish brown on the top layers. This is the 2nd time in my life I've dyed my hair and I am pretty happy with the results. I still did a few touch ups after the first rinse as I missed some spots being my first try (still had1/2 bottle left as I have short hair) and after using the conditioner, my hair was so soft and smooth. The greys are tinted and mostly look like barely there highlights but it's better than the starker contrast of white and black. I will stock up on the 3-box purchase and will be good till after the holidays.
