Here is the ingredients: Millet Flour Powder (Japan), Vegetable Oil, Sugar, Salt, Onion Powder, Apricot Paste, Tomato Paste, Curry Powder, Yeast Extract, Stir-fried Onions, Red Wine, Ginger, Garlic, Apple Vinegar, Red Pepper / Caramel Pigment (Partially including apple).

Q: Do you make a roux with this first?

You can or you can add it to a pot with water or broth. I thought the flavor was too mild, but using oil and heat to brighten up the spice level helps. You could probably make a really inventive Mac and cheese with the curry or a gratin! Good luck with your meal preparation.

Q: What is the yeast extract made of/ for ?

I do not personally know what the yeast extract is made of as you would probably have to contact the company to find out the specifics. However, this product is Certified Vegan and gluten-free which means the yeast extract does not contain any wheat or gluten. Some yeast extracts do contain gluten, so be sure to read the label and make sure it says Gluten-free. As for what is it used for, it can give dishes what is known as the 'Umami" savory flavor. 250 g meat, 300 g onion, 600 cc water, 200 g carrot (or 1 medium carrot). 1. Marinate meat with salt and pepper. Sautee it. 2. In a separate pan, caramelize onions and add carrots. 3. Add meat and water. Cook until carrots are soft. 4. Stop heat and add curry powder. Stir carefully until curry is incorporated. To make it less spicy, add yogurt.
